Secluded island house within walking/biking distance to the ferry! Situated among 30+ acres of untouched forest, this cozy homestead makes for a great break away from the city. Modern amenities and WiFi combine with an outdoor fire pit, total peace and quiet, and ample space to relax and unwind. Only a 10-15-minute bike ride/walk from the ferry terminal, and a 15-20-minute drive to scenic beaches and town -- making for an easy and relaxing island stopover.

The space

This is an older, quirky home -- but what it lacks in fanciness, it makes up for with coziness. It sits surrounded by 30+ acres of protected forest, and no neighbors are in sight (the sole structure within view is a pump house). A large wrap-around deck faces the trees, and both a swing set and fire pit are in the back. A lot of love has gone into fixing this house up, and an entire community of loved ones have contributed to it's charm. Needless to say, the home is earthy, cozy, low-key and -- I'm hoping -- allows budget travelers, cyclists and families a chance to experience the island. There are three beds, and a couch that folds down into a flat futon-like mattress.

Guest access

Whole house is yours! (Separate spare room, which is not pictured and sits adjacent from the house, is off limits and secured.)

Interaction with guests

I live in Seattle when I'm not on-island, but have trusted contacts who live on Lopez full-time, who will be available if for any reason I'm not.

Other things to note

Be aware of ferry schedules and plan ahead!
If you're driving on, ferry reservations are required for all Anacortes to Lopez sailings www (dot) wsdot (dot) wa (dot) gov. (Walk-ons/bikers don't need reservations.) However, for sailing back to Anacortes from Lopez, there are no reservations. Meaning, you've got to plan ahead and line up early.

Super hidden spot in the hills above Lopez island. Just like a treehouse, very private, very peaceful. I love Erica's touches around the house, very stylish and calming. Her helpful tips on where to hike, eat and shop were also spot-on. We had a great stay on Lopez thanks to her!

We took the ferry from anacortes Friday night, and 15 minutes after docking we were at the house. So close! Less than a mile. Up a steep part but we walked that. Its a fabulous spot for biking. Sunday am, we left the house at 1020 and easily got on the 1045 ferry with time to spare, while cars were backed up and waiting for hours. (San Juan islands without ferry hassle rocks!) We went into town (3 miles) for dinner @ amazing ursa minor and had fantastic baked goods in town at bettys (I think that's the name, something like that). The house was sweet and comfortable. Beds super comfy and great down comforters. Everything was clean. Lots of amenities in the kitchen. Bathrooms were adequate but rustic. They were my least favorite part. But I would love to return and enjoy this lovely spot again! Erica was very nice and easy to communicate with.

Comfortable and stylish home where the owner's care and eye for details really shines through. Loved the privacy and quiet, especially at night. Each bedroom, and even the fold out couch in the living room, gave everyone a good place to sleep. Had no time to plan and research activities ahead of time, so we followed Erica's tips and were not disappointed! Shark Reef is stunning, Blackie Beach is a great secluded beach for swimming, and the ramen in the village put us in a food coma :) So glad we found this home and hope to return!

Erica's home is the perfect getaway! The setting is private, quiet and a quick drive from both the ferry and the village. The home is tastefully decorated with all the amenities you need for cooking and dining. Erica is super responsive and was a pleasure to connect with. Lopez has several amazing restaurants, hiking trails and places to relax by the water. Highly recommended!

Erica's place is awesome! Nice, comfortable place to feel at home on Lopez and right near the ferry (10-15 minute walk). Village is less than 10 minutes drive. The house is exceptionally private, quiet and peaceful. Very clean and cozy home, equipped with everything you need and delightfully decorated. We will be back in winter to enjoy the cozy fireplace. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend to others!

It's exactly what we needed for a quiet babymoon in the San Juans: low-key, stylish, cozy and away from the tourists. Erica's interior style (with loads of cool textiles and vintage furniture and knickknacks) provides an immediately soothing but never boring ambience. You can peruse her wide-ranging book collection (we found one on personality types that kept us busy for at least an hour). Build a fire in the wood stove and play Scrabble on the rug with your companion(s). Or make dinner in the roomy kitchen and eat at the long wooden table in the dining room while spying on the deer in the garden below. The whole place is extremely cozy and mellow. And the three beds come with lovely linens. The one caveat I'd give as a pregnant woman: bring a body pillow if you're pregnant and already have to sleep on your sides. (The mattresses are pretty comfy but they're not very forgiving on hip bones.) We loved the secluded location near the ferry (and the beach at Odlin Park), but that's because we were looking for quiet and privacy. If you are wanting to walk everywhere, this might not be the place for you. But if you do stay, you won't regret it.
