The space

The apartment is on the 3d floor (steep staircase) of a former warehouse (1892) in 'de Pijp', a lively neighborhood. On the street side is a former painter studio, a big space with heigh ceilings and light from above. At the backside is a cosy apartment with a bathroom and a kitchenette. The bed consists of 2 mattresses of each 80 cm (you can choose between a double of single duvet) and is located in front of a big window with a view on the big green backyard. The apartment on the garden side is rented out the whole year. Sometimes we also rent out the room in the front. The bathroom and kitchen are shared, so to rent the whole place you have to be good friends or a family. It is quite easy to rent bikes in the neighborhood. This is a perfect way to stay in Amsterdam during the summer holidays.

Other things to note

The apartment is on the 3rd floor. The typical Amsterdam stairs are steep and narrow. Very big bags can be difficult to get over.

This rental was exceptional and felt like home away from home! Together we were my husband, myself, and our two teenage boys. We had plenty of space. The high ceilings, large windows, and cross breeze from the back of the house to the front allowed us to slow down a little and just breathe. The location was ideal for walking, taking the tram, and or taking the train from Amstel or Centraal Stations. We felt safe walking during all times of the day and night. The guide book that Anneke thoughtfully put together is full of recommendations for neighborhood restaurants, stores, hiking, etc. We loved the modern design of the rental combined with the historic charm of the building. Communication with Anneke was immediate and clear. We highly recommend this rental and are thankful to Anneke for her hospitality!

I live in Amsterdam with my husband and our daughter. Also our Jack Russell is part of our family. We live in a quiet part of Amsterdam south, we don't own a car: everybody rides a bike. We all love to travel!
