It is said that ravens mate for life-And so Two Ravens was built with all kinds of love for all kinds of people in mind. 10 minutes from the town of Golden, our completely unique, elegant, extremely romantic, custom built, all season yurt and attached shower house combines beautiful modernity in a lovely, forested pastoral setting. Very private but close to all amenities, we're certain you'll want to come stay more than once.

The space

Placed at the base of Moberly Mountain. Two Ravens yurt shares the forest with vocal sawhet owls, grouse, pileated woodpeckers and ravens among other birds. Deer, elk as well as bears and cougars also make it home but never fear our superhero protector, Iggy Pup, keeps them far away! A full deck, outside fire pit and super comfortable outdoor chairs make spending time outside in your surroundings so magical. Also, as a full time potter and pottery instructor at the College of the Rockies I hope you enjoy drinking and eating from your hand made vessels. Our loving brainchild, Two Ravens holds a special place in our hearts and we know it will in yours as well.

Guest access

You are completely self contained and don't ever need to see us if that is your preference. But should you come with a child or pet-You are welcome to roam the property on the same level as the yurt. (We can accommodate one child and if your pet is well socialized and behaved, our dog would love to meet him or her) The meadow to the left of you has a trampoline and our daughter, Isla (9), adores meeting new children.

Interaction with guests

I am definitely available in whatever capacity you require but will leave you more or less in privacy. Avid travellers ourselves, we love hosting people from all walks of life, ethnicities, sexual orientations and gender preferences. Our little family is fun and very social but we also understand the need for accommodation autonomy and value ours as well. We'll follow your lead on that one. As well, although I am no longer fluent, I do speak some French should you require it.

Other things to note

Have you ever been rafting?! Canoeing?! My husband, Justin, is a certified canoe instructor and white water raft guide. (Not to mention funny AND competent-he's an incredible person to do activities with!) All of his certifications are up to date, including advanced wilderness first aid, and we own both a raft and canoes. We regularly take people on the beautiful, glacial fed Blaeberry, Kootenay and Kicking Horse Rivers so ask about the fees for those adventures! They will change your life!

This place is simply amazing- it's clean, warm and peaceful. The hosts were great, and were really respectful of privacy. Thanks too to Iggy pup for his hard work in keeping the bears aware- you're doing a great job! We'd definitely come again.

I've had the pleasure of staying at Suzanne's Place twice in the last month. Both times my stay was great. The yurt is a cozy and beautiful as it shows in pictures. One thing that I was surprised by is how private the yurt is as its situated down the hillside from the main home. You also have your own small private yard which was great as I was traveling with my pup. I will defiantly be returning to visit Suzanne's Place once again.

We’ve stayed in all sorts of accommodation over the years but had never stayed in a yurt, so didn't know what to expect, although we did read the reviews and people seemed to enjoy Two Ravens. We weren't disappointed. From the warm welcoming emails and clear check-in instructions to the care and consideration showed by Suzanne and Justin (and Iggy) throughout our two-night stay, everything was super. The facilities are spotlessly clean and everything is well thought-out so that comfort and an enjoyable time are pretty much guaranteed. And wow - that stove is hot! There is little we can add to the previous reviews; Suzanne is right to be pleased and proud of Two Ravens and we look forward to returning in the future

Staying in the yurt was a great experience. It had all the great things about camping with everything you could need (kitchen etc) but with a slice of luxury - warm cosy bed and a deluxe bathroom. Suzanne and Justin are great hosts. Very friendly and welcoming with lots of helpful tips on things to do. They made us really feel at home but also gave us all the space we wanted to just relax and do our own thing. Justin took us out on a canoe trip which is one of the hilights of our entire trip. It was a really beautiful and peaceful experience and he had loads of great knowledge on the area let alone just being great company. If you have a spare afternoon on your itinerary it's definitely worth booking in a trip with him :). If we are ever in the area again we'd definitely stay!

A former urbanite, I chose to make my home in the Mountains of BC with my gorgeous husband, Justin, my hilarious daughter, Isla, my appropriately named cat, sneakers, and my sweet dog, Mr. Iggy Pup. I live primarily for great books, big laughs, making pottery, writing humourous pieces, other art of all kinds, music of almost all genres, cooking amazing meals (both at home and professionally), going dancing, yoga, trail running and big mountain snowboarding. I am known as an outgoing introvert (yes, that's a thing) in that I LOVE to meet new people and socialize but really value my alone time and that of others. For that reason I make a great host, in that I can give guests whatever they need: a few laughs over a nice glass or total and complete privacy. As an artist I am sensitive and great at reading the needs of others. My husband and I are very fun, adventurous people but we are also very meticulous and design focussed, having already built our own timber frame straw bale house as well as the yurt. We know that guests will appreciate the level of cleanliness and creative attention to detail Two Ravens has going for it. And we are so excited to share this incredible labour of love with the world.
