About this listing

This fieldstone row house was built in 1847 by Phoenix Iron Works for its employees. It stands across the street from an historic foundry (recently converted into a posh events space) in the heart of the business district. You can walk to over 20 restaurants, cafes and pubs. The local farmers market is held Saturday mornings at the other end of my block. Even with all this going on nearby, Nailers Row is surprisingly quiet. Last but not least, there's room for 2 cars at the back of the garden.

The space

The 'pie winder' stairs are a little tricky. If you have mobility issues this may not be the place for you. The bed on the 3rd floor is slightly smaller than a queen but it sleeps two comfortably.

Guest access

The entire house is at your disposal. The back porch faces an intimate garden filled with southern light. There are laundry facilities, along with a powder room of sorts in the basement. Just watch your head going down the basement stairs!

Interaction with guests

I am at the house several time a week doing the following: mowing the lawn and gardening, replenishing the well water in the fridge, watering houseplants, and checking my mailbox. I keep some tools in the basement that I occasionally have to access. (There is a door to the basement directly from the front of the house, so no need to enter any other floor.)
I will not come to the house before 9 AM or after 5 PM. If you need total privacy during that time, please let me know.

Other things to note

No need to miss your workouts. There is a Planet Fitness (8 minutes drive away), a YMCA (8 minutes drive away) and an LA Fitness (12 minutes drive away).

We loved it. Cozy and quiet apt, well-apportioned kitchen, awesome neighborhood, easy access to groceries and beverages. Lots of great restaurants nearby, and coffee and cinema. We liked the wonderfully tight stairways between floors and charming décor (and floors!). Also, very clean with new appliances and fixtures throughout. One of my favorites, if we come back to the area, we'll request it again. -Jason.

Clean, beautifully decorated, and even great parking in the heart of Phoenixville. Charles is an excellent host; gave us terrific dining suggestions, made sure we had everything we requested, and were comfortable for our stay. I would highly recommend this for business travel as well as casual visitors to the area. Thank you!

We stayed at Charles' place as we were attending an event at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. It was about a 10 minute drive away and this location was perfect. There are so many shops and restaurants in walkable distance. The house is very clean and you have the whole place to yourself. The beds were super comfortable and we would certainly stay here again. Thing to consider: both rooms are upstairs and the staircases are steep. If you are traveling with elderly or if anyone in your party is disabled in any way, this would not be the house for you. If everyone is able bodied, it is PERFECT! Charles is so easy to work with and the place is WONDERFUL!

Charles' place was excellent. The entire place was immaculate and nicely furnished. Charles was helpful when we arrived and explained everything we needed to know about the house. The location was ideal, and even though it was located right behind the town's main commercial street, it was exceptionally quiet at night. I definitely plan to stay there again the next time I am in Phoenixville.

Charles was a great host! His home is adorable. Thoughtful touches like fresh cut flowers and snacks in the fridge were extremely thoughtful. Would recommend anytime.

The townhouse is beautiful, with perfect little garden to relax. Clean, great condition. Close to everything in Phoenixville. Charles made a great effort to accommodate all of our family needs. It does have an office space if you need one. Highly recommended. People are super nice in this little town .

I'm an artist/muralist. I enjoy most of the usual stuff; travel, good food, sleep, exercise, and unstinting praise. I don't enjoy; traffic, debt, cluelessness (especially my own), or most restaurant food.
If I have a motto it's - Two's company, three's an angry mob.
