About this listing
This fieldstone row house was built in 1847 by Phoenix Iron Works for its employees. It stands across the street from an historic foundry (recently converted into a posh events space) in the heart of the business district. You can walk to over 20 restaurants, cafes and pubs. The local farmers market is held Saturday mornings at the other end of my block. Even with all this going on nearby, Nailers Row is surprisingly quiet. Last but not least, there's room for 2 cars at the back of the garden.
The 'pie winder' stairs are a little tricky. If you have mobility issues this may not be the place for you. The bed on the 3rd floor is slightly smaller than a queen but it sleeps two comfortably.
The entire house is at your disposal. The back porch faces an intimate garden filled with southern light. There are laundry facilities, along with a powder room of sorts in the basement. Just watch your head going down the basement stairs!
Interaction with guests
I am at the house several time a week doing the following: mowing the lawn and gardening, replenishing the well water in the fridge, watering houseplants, and checking my mailbox. I keep some tools in the basement that I occasionally have to access. (There is a door to the basement directly from the front of the house, so no need to enter any other floor.)
I will not come to the house before 9 AM or after 5 PM. If you need total privacy during that time, please let me know.
Other things to note
No need to miss your workouts. There is a Planet Fitness (8 minutes drive away), a YMCA (8 minutes drive away) and an LA Fitness (12 minutes drive away).
You can, of course, smoke on the back porch. Just make sure the windows and door are shut to keep the smoke outside.
I'm an artist/muralist. I enjoy most of the usual stuff; travel, good food, sleep, exercise, and unstinting praise. I don't enjoy; traffic, debt, cluelessness (especially my own), or most restaurant food.
If I have a motto it's - Two's company, three's an angry mob.
