Ty Mawr is a stone built 18th century farmhouse set in a large garden with a stream. It is two miles from the university town of Bangor, with its award winning Pontio Arts Centre, and is convenient for both the beautiful coast line and dramatic mountains of north Wales. Penrhyn Castle is a short walk from the house, and the Zip Ride at Bethesda is only a short drive away.

The space

This is a wonderful area to explore, with great walks, the coastal path, bike trails, ancient castles and the beaches of Anglesey close by.
There is a frequent train service between Bangor, London, Birmingham , Manchester, and Holyhead.
We are a great over night stop for anyone travelling to or from Ireland.
For cyclists we have storage for bikes.

Guest access

Packed lunches and evening meals can be provided if arranged in advance, at an extra cost per person of £5 for packed lunch and £8 for evening meal.
We have two bedrooms available, although only let one room at a time since both rooms share the same bathroom. One room also has a cot bed which is available for guests with a young child. Both rooms have double beds, wardrobes, dressing tables and tea and coffee making facilities.
We have sitting - out areas around the house, in the garden and courtyard, which guests may use, plus a second sitting room with log burner for the colder evenings.

Interaction with guests

We offer a warm welcome to all and can provide for special dietary requirements if given advance notice.
We can provide information about local places of interest, and suggest walks and activities which are available in this area.

Other things to note

As we have a dog we are unable to accommodate any other pets.
The "toddler bed" is a cot bed which is suitable for a child up to 2 years.

We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. The farmhouse is amazing and the company was fantastic. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We stayed only one night with Jane and Frank, very reluctant to leave our friendly hosts, we wish we had had a longer stay. Possibly the loveliest and cosiest air bnb stay to date.... :) Jane and Frank are wonderfully warm and friendly. Every minute of our stay in their beautiful home was bliss we were quite sad to leave them. Cannot recommend this place enough. We hope to return in spring for some hill walking. :) thank you Jane and Frank!!

Thanks Dawn for your lovely review. May we say that the feeling was mutual. We seem to have become friends all at once. Hope you'll stay longer next time. How was the Michael Jackson evening? Thanks again for introducing us to Dakha Brakha!

Stayed only one night but we found their house veeery cozy and neat. Owners are super-friendly and very welcoming alongside with their dog. Breakfast was fabulous and leaving house felt like leaving from familly visit. Absolutely loved it. PS: bed is little small for 6'4" man and his wife. Otherwise everything was perfect. Thanks Jane&Frank

Jane and Frank were very hospitable, we felt at home immediately. They are a friendly couple (and their dog Robbie was very sweet and calm too) going above and beyond what we would've expected from air B&B. The house is warm with beautiful features and secure car parking space. The atmosphere was relaxing being clean and uncluttered. We both have allergies but were very comfortable, and to our surprise had no symptoms. Jane made an extra effort to keep the house smell free from cooking and having a pet. The house is situated close to Bangor (10 mins drive) whilst other scenic walks are close by. We appreciated Jane and Frank's assistance with planning where to go, they knew a lot about the area. Jane and Frank have made our stay extra special, we really enjoyed both their company and would love to visit again. Quote my wife: 'I've been so spoilt this weekend, we've been given the best!'
