I own a mini-farm and I have 7 chickens, 4 dogs, 4 cats and board 2 horses. I live in a rural environment and it's very quiet and great views. I am just 20 minutes from Hot Springs and the French Broad River where you can go soak in the mineral waters at the Hot Springs Resort and Spa or dine at one of many restaurants or go hiking on the Appalachian trail. I am also 25 minutes from historic downtown Marshall, 35 minutes from Mars Hill and 45 minutes from Asheville.

The space

I have 2 rooms in my home available with queen sized beds and a full bathroom between the two rooms.

Guest access

You will be able to access the two bedrooms and adjoining full bath, the living room area, a front covered porch with rocking chairs and the back deck with a table. There is a coffe maker and small refrigerator to share between the two rooms. I do plan to create an "outdoor kitchen " on the back deck that will be available to guests soon!

Interaction with guests

I will be available during you stay for questions whenever possible.

Other things to note

I have to emphasize that I do keep chickens and they have free range of my farm during the day. I have a rooster and he does crow in the mornings so ear plugs may be appropriate! All animals on my farm are well behaved. No aggressive animals. The dogs do come in the house as well as one cat so if you are allergic to animals this is not the place for you, so sorry!

Marcia's home is an oasis! It is well situated to get to some of the most beautiful outdoor spots in NC. Her home and land is a serene respite itself. She and her 4-legged friends welcomed us as if we were family. The bed was comfortable, house was clean and a nutritious breakfast offered each morning. We are grateful to have stayed in such a lovely space with our gracious host. I'm certain we'll be back!

How can I summarize this magical stay in a single review?? This is a very special place. We pulled up to the house before sunset and were greeted by kitties, puppies, chickens and horses! The golden sunset over the hills was beautiful. Even the drive up the mountain was spectacular. I'm a big outdoorsy person and I found the location perfect. 15 minutes from the hot springs, 40 minutes to Asheville. Our stay was comfortable and warm. Marcia had fresh fruit and eggs from her chickens for us for breakfast. She was very informative and helpful, letting us know about the happenings around town and the places we could visit. The whole experience felt like a cozy place you grew up in in another life. If you are coming to North Carolina, you must stay here! You won't be disappointed. ☺❤

Just like a visit to grandma's house We loved the laid back and relaxing farm atmosphere. The terrain is beautiful. Furry friends , and a few feathered ones were a delight. A better host can't be found! We only expected a room and clean bathroom, but our stay was more like a bed and breakfast. Marcia may quickly realize at double the price, it would still be a bargain. Comfortable bed, very clean bathrooms. Cozy sitting room. Front porch rockers and back porch table. A morning cup of coffee on the back porch and the postcard view is a perfect way to start the day! Conveniently located to Asheville. If you desire a peaceful country setting and a warm welcome, this is the place. It's not the Hyatt, it's not spotless and it's not sterile... it's like a visit at grandma's house!

Marcia has a great place if you are looking to stay in the mountains! It's cute, private and comfortable. Marcia was very helpful when it came to recommendations and even took us outside to see the lightening bugs at night. One tip we have, you can't rely on always having a signal for GPS in the mountains so plan accordingly!

Hi, I am a mountain girl, originally from Charlotte, NC but I have lived in Marshall almost 30 years now and love it more each day. I have a mini-farm with chickens, dogs, cats and I board a few horses. I love to hike, cook, swim, read , music festivals, rafting, and just enjoying the beauty of our Mother Earth! I also love having company and meeting new folks.
My favorite travel destination would have to be Hawaii. I love reading fiction, mostly romance and mystery novels but I also enjoy historical fiction. I could not live without music, my pets, my friends and family and my vegetable garden!
If you stay here you will enjoy lots of peace and quiet, beautiful views and a beautiful area! I love having guests!
