A traditional Irish Street House, 5 Ashe Street is over 200 years old. We have extensively renovated and decorated in a simple style with an industrial feel. Smack bang on the town square, you will be right in the middle of the cosmopolitan village life of Clonakilty.

The space

5 Ashe St. is a very narrow street house which has wonderful views of Clonakilty village life from each of the 4 floors. There are carpeted stairs with handrails but no lift. With a fully equipped kitchen you can enjoy sourcing and cooking with abundant local produce. There is limited sitting room areas, but we hope you will be out & about enjoying all that Clonakilty has to offer.

Guest access

Guests will have access to all areas of the house including a small back courtyard to catch the morning sun. There is a small sitting space at the front of the house looking over the town square, and a Den on the 2nd floor.

Interaction with guests

We will not be able to interact with you personally but will be always available by text message or email.

Other things to note

We ask that you are mindful of locking the front door as we are directly on a main thoroughfare of town, and that you remember not to take our keys home with you!
Being right in the centre of town, there could be some noise issue on the weekends with people making their way home.
The front door opens directly onto the street, making the house less suitable for families with very small children.

Magical interior fits perfectly with a fantastic location outside. Seconds away from some of the best cafes / pubs and restaurants in Clonakilty. On trend, urban chic.

Response from Ellen:
Thanks for your kind words Daniel and Annemarie. So glad you enjoyed the proximity of the house and our decorating style! We would love to have you stay again. In terms of the Yellow Bird products, they are made in my home town of Albany, Western Australia and I don't think she has outlets in Ireland. She does post them to Holland though, so she may well be able to do that if you are interested. She has an (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) account - yellowbirdalbany, so you could try her on that. We also have an ashe_st_townhouse (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) account if you'd like to follow! And finally - thanks for the feedback re the tv plug. I will sort that out and will also pass on your praise of my housekeeper Liina to her. Thanks very much.

Beautiful house, perfectly central to all shops and restaurants. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. The interior decoration is amazing from the polished concrete floors, the beautifully relaxing enterance room ( where you can relax ans watch the world go by), the mix of vintage and new furniture, the wall pictures, plush towels and spotless clean interior. It exceeded my expectations.

This is a charming fully renovated house in the town centre. You are warned about street noise but actually with double glazing this isn't a problem at all. The hosts very kindly left food for breakfast which was a very kind touch. Clonakilty itself looks fantastic and we has a great weekend.

This is a fabulous place to stay perfectly positioned in the very center of the charming and friendly village of Clonakilty. The house itself is a very narrow and quirky "street house" with 4 stories (including the ground floor). Cosy kitchen with small 6 sweater table. Living room adequate but obviously space constrained. Bedrooms and bathrooms all very comfy and functional with good quality towels and bed linen. Host Ellen is very responsive and accommodating. We were delighted to find on checking in that the kitchen had been thoughtfully stocked with goodies for a slap up breakfast. Such a nice touch. Would not hesitate to recommend to families and couples alike.
