#6 shares walls with other guests so keeping noise down after 9 is a great way to be respectful. The courtyard is available for use and is communally kept clean, so please pick up after yourself and your dog(s) and use the trash and recycling bins provided.

Dog owners, your pals are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Please inform us of the demeanor/type of dog in a message before you plan to book. And once accepted, all we ask is that you please pick up after your pets in the courtyard, and do your best to help with the dog hair woes by keeping them off the furniture and definitely off the beds. Thanks!

If you're coming to stay in Arcata, I highly recommend this spot. It is ideally located (walking distance to town, to a brewery, and to the Marsh) and the place itself has a really functional little kitchen, cozy living space, and awesome shower. There are also little gems like the huge board game selection, Victrola, and fresh eggs. Plus, the area was really nice and quiet. I had a blast!

My family and I stayed here for a night. Julia was easy to communicate with and was flexible. We arrived after sunset so we didn't spot their gate immediately, but we were re-directed after a quick phone call with them. The Front Porch is a very cute place, the garden is a very nice touch and provides a very calming presence especially at night. The apartment itself had everything we needed. It's a small space, but it was able to accommodate 3 adults and a mastiff comfortably.

Julia is a great host and there and this is a great spot. We stayed with our dog and infant, and there was just enough space in the apartment. Positives: 1. Walkable to town. Walkable to the marsh. (We didn't actually walk to the marsh, as we heard it is very buggy this time of year.) We felt the area was a little run down and didn't feel that safe in the neighborhood when we first got there. But we realized it just looks a little run down and felt comfortable walking with our dog and infant. 2. Full kitchen. Note: They have a French Press. 3. Units are in a safe enclosure, with a locking gate. The little relaxation area is cute. There was a rocking bench outside our room. 4. Julia is a GREAT host. Communication was great and she did whatever she could to deal with problems we had. (See below.) Negatives: 1. The front windows don't open, so it can get a little stuffy when it is warmer. 2. There are neighbors very close on the back side. Those are the only windows that do open. So if you want the windows open, it isn't so private if the neighbors are outside. 3. The unit can seem a little dark, but they have plenty of lights. 4. We had a problem with a skunk getting near our unit. This is probably a random event and has nothing to do with the quality of the place. Julia was in great communication about the problem, even in the middle of the night. She had an onsite manager check on it right away. 5. There was construction going on in the unit next door to us during the day. It would be good to get a heads up about this before booking, as we needed to spend some time at the unit during the day. Overall, we think this place is worth the price and has a great location. It is similar to a basic motel unit and the host is great.

This gem had everything I needed to rest and relax the whole weekend without any concerns. The location is prime real estate, close enough to walk into the plaza but far enough to feel secluded from town noise. The interior was excellent, many luxuries and conveniences were on hand within easy reach, and the bed was supremely comfortable as well. This place is a gem worth checking into in Arcata.

My husband, dog and I stayed here on our road trip and absolutely loved the space. Loved all the games, and the record player was a plus. Thanks for letting us stay in your place. Check in is easy when you just have to use a lockbox. Would stay here again. We also loved the courtyard garden, and spent some time outside. Must go to Forest Park (loved all the redwoods).

I've lived in Arcata for nine years and I'm so happy to call this beautiful place home. I moved here to attend HSU and received a degree in Elementary Education. Now my husband and I live in Blue Lake on our farm where we are raising almost eight-hundred fruit and nut trees and a small herd of beef cattle, which we sell at the Arcata Farmers Market on Saturdays (a must-visit if you're here on a weekend!!).
