Where you’ll be

Bexhill, England, United Kingdom

There are countless visitor attractions in the area, far too many to mention here. We provide a range of leaflets covering local museums, theatres, art galleries and other attractions. However here are some of our favourites:

The Village
Take a stroll down into the village and explore the local shops. Selling excellent local produce, Julies delicatessen is full of delicious temptation, or stock up at the local family butchers, while Pete the fish can sell you the catch of the day.  Or walk a little further and explore Broad-oak Park. If you fancy being pampered there are also several hairdressers and beauticians,  I highly recommend Perfections Beauty salon where the friendly staff can transform your day.

The Beach
If you turn right on leaving the cottage you can wander down the hill to find yourself on Cooden Beach, Cooden is your typical Sussex beach, so expect a long stretch of shingle divided up by wooden groynes and you won't be disappointed. At low tide there are some sandy flats exposed. Take a picnic lunch or enjoy a BBQ as you watch the sun go down.
Art and culture

De La Warr
A five minute drive from the famous De la Warr Pavilion a pioneering centre for arts and culture in an iconic modernist building by the sea. It is now the South East region’s most significant centre for the contemporary arts comprising two state of the art galleries, a stylish café and modern restaurant, an open roof terrace with spectacular sea-views, the original auditorium, curvaceous silver staircases and balconies and terraces for basking in the sun.

Situated a pebble’s throw from the sea, the Pavilion puts on a lively programme of exhibitions by national and international artists, contemporary music gigs and classical concerts and events for children and young people both inside and outside the building. The restaurant serves delicious, freshly-prepared light lunches and pre-theatre suppers, whilst the café/bar serves fair-trade and speciality teas, coffees and home-made cakes and scones. A perfect day out!Food and Restaurants
There are a number of restaurants, bars and takeaways within five minutes walk, try the fish and chips or spend time enjoying a pint and pub lunch in the Wheatsheaf Inn.

Cooden Beach - Brasserie on the Beach - just five minutes walk away.
With moody atmospheric winter skies and crisp sunny days, your view over the beach is always changing. On warm days it’s glass walls will fold back so you can breathe in the fresh sea air. When summer hits you can also choose to eat outside on the Beach Terrace. Whatever the weather, the Gin Palace in the newly crafted Cafe Bar features eighteen artisan gins and a range of specialist tonics.

The Driftwood restaurant - a five minute drive, provides an elegant but unpretentious backdrop for relaxed lunches, Sunday roasts with the family, as well as intimate dinners.
Lunch and supper are wonderful affairs of tasty dishes, delicious desserts and a carefully selected wine list to match.

Rock Salt - a five minute drive.
Lovely, buzzing brasserie with great atmosphere, welcoming staff, great choice of beer and excellent food. Best place for just drinks with friends, or with great food. The place to go just back from the seafront.

Battle and Hastings
From coast to countryside, seaside to historic towns and villages, there are many things to do in Hastings and 1066 Country, including excellent days out and places to see.
On the coast visit the unspoilt sand dunes of Camber or visit the quirky lively resort of Hastings.
For free things to do in Hastings, why not experience the beauty of the countryside by taking a walk through Combe Valley or Hastings Country Park via woods and ancient forests; be inspired by exotic planting and old-fashioned roses in the glorious gardens of Great Dixter and Pashley Manor.
Look out for wildlife and birds in the natural nature reserves of Rye Harbour.
For the more active there are adrenaline sports, cycling and boat trips.

Visit where history began at the site of the Battle of Hastings and the imposing castles of Bodiam and Herstmonceux.
Go to the historic homes of famous writers including Rudyard Kipling and Lamb House.

Dippy Cottage is a five minute walk from Cooden Beach golf club. The Committee and members of Cooden Beach Golf Club offer you a warm welcome and wish you an enjoyable visit .
The Highwoods golf club a five minute drive away and is also happy to welcome guests.
