Pig ark, for something different for big and little children, enjoy the fun of sleeping in an ark with real live rare breed pigs for neighbours. Rural and basic but luxury inside with king size bed in master bedroom with a proper mattress and antique French linen. L shaped seating for eating that convert to beds for children or adults (up to 6' tall). Cassette toilet in the ark for night time emergencies and mains toilets and a shower on site, Gas bbq provided with an undercover cooking area.
Definitely something different, our new specially built glamping ark based on our pig arks that the 4 legged variety use, provides luxury camping with proper mattresses and antique linen all included. Set in 3 acres of field in a rural area but just minutes from shops, there are mains toilets on site and a shower but NO electric, a gas bbq is provided with undercover area for cooking. Solar lights both inside and out, water for utility use and a inside cassett toilet make life much better than in a tent but with the back to basic feel. Plenty of space for children to play you can even rent some chickens so you can collect your own fresh eggs to enjoy with our home made sausages and bacon (available to purchase).
The children will love it.
There is a public house 10 minutes walk away that serve food, Gurnard is a short distance away with it's 2 pubs and 2 restaurants and Cowes is only just over a mile away with its many shops, restaurants and pubs.
Interaction with guests
I will meet you on site on arrival, and show you around and answer any questions you may have. Because there is livestock in adjacent fields I visit 3 or 4 times in a day and live just a couple of hundred metres up the road.
Other things to note
We are rural and basic, we have NO electric on site at all but we do have a shower, mains toilets and water. We are a quiet site so no late night parties, radios or generators but masses of fun and fresh air.
- No outside shoes in the Ark
- No fires or generators
- Disposable bbqs not to be used
I live on the beautiful Isle of Wight with my partner and son, we have a small holding with ponies, pigs, chickens and turkeys. I also work as a rental manager for a local estate agent and have a house that I let out for holidays, this puts me in a good position to critique properties as my own holiday let is a five star rental, it also makes me a great guest as I appreciate how you should leave a property after your stay. I do like my accommodation to be spotless. As a host I go the extra mile by leaving cakes, flowers and home produced food for my guests.
I love good food from local sources and promote rare breeds by keeping Gloucester old spot and British Saddle back pigs.
I couldn't live without my family, animals, tea, fresh food and sunshine. My favourite destination in England is Cornwall (after the Isle of Wight) and worldwide anywhere I can relax and enjoy the sunshine.
