On a farm, by a pond... when you stay at sykes hollow farm you will be relaxing in the gorgeous Mettowee Valley with 4 friendly horses, entertaining chickens and real people who care about you and your holiday! You will love feeding the horses, exploring the brook/pond and running free! We offer a peaceful place with 30 acres to roam. The 100 year old farmhouse is lovely, simple and private. Close to Dorset/Manchester. More than just a house, an open door to an authentic NE farm experience!

The space
This is a happy, peaceful place! All who appreciate that are welcome! Renovations have been completed and the results are fantastic! Fun kitchenette with farm sink and barn board. Sunny dining and living areas. Comfy, cozy bedrooms upstairs with views of the pond. The upstairs common area is between the bedrooms and is perfect for reading, puzzles, artwork, games or napping! Bathroom has a shower with tub. :-) The pond house is attached to the main farm house, but completely separate/private with its own parking area and entrance. The farm is green! And clean! I recycle, use all natural cleaning products and wash all blankets/comforters every time! (Super cozy Garnett Hill bedding... cotton sheets for the summer, flannels in the winter.) You have your own washer/dryer. There's a picnic area by the brook complete with picnic table, hammock and firepit... for toasting marshmallows and making s'mores! The farm does have a generator... which means you will still have electricity if power goes out in a storm. My primary goal is for you to enjoy your holiday! I believe in attention to detail, which comes only from personal care and involvement which leads me to this... please read the entire listing and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions! I want to make sure the pond house and farm are the right fit for YOU... so everyone is happy! Come visit if you enjoy beauty: the gorgeous Taconic mountain range, the Mettowee valley, pond, fields and horses. Nature: owls, pileated woodpeckers, turkeys, hawks, fox, coyote, deer, mink. Peace and quiet: enjoy a snooze on one of the hammocks, swing on one of the swings (don't miss the "rainy day swings" in the barn), walk on the paths, sunbathe on the dock. Farm fun: collect fresh eggs from the ladies, help with the horses, climb on the hay! Friendly faces are here to help you make the most of your vacation with suggestions, tips and ideas! Good for families or couples. (Need more space? Visit Vermont Barn Apartment... the other housing on the farm.) Important facts to note: there is a step to the deck to reach the front door, there is only one bathroom and it is upstairs... you must climb a flight of steps to reach it. There is no tv, but you have wifi! (The farm is about 2 miles to The Old Gray Barn, 4.8 miles to the Dorset green and 11.6 miles to Manchester.) *children shown in photos are real live guests! :-) The farm is a special place where kids can enjoy being outside, with nature and animals, in a safe and supportive setting!

The entire pond house is yours for complete privacy. The entire farm is shared with awesome people! Swim in the pond, sunbathe on the dock, explore the brook, walk along the fields, snooze in the hammocks, visit the horses/chickens, swing on the swings and stargaze! The farm is perfect for xc skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months. I have bikes, snowshoes, sleds and toboggan if you would like to borrow!
