About this listing

A unique bamboo house and a work of art. Both the river valley view & interior are remarkable, providing such a marvelous feast to the eyes that guests find it extraordinary to live so in touch with nature but in complete luxury.

The space

Set on a river valley landscape along Bali’s sacred Ayung River, this 6 storey bamboo house is unique. It is the latest addition of a master-planned community of high end bamboo villas with its distinctive blonde roofs. Entering the house is a feast to the eyes and a showcase at how black and white bamboo can be combined in all shapes and pattern to create a stunning collection of luxurious floors, walls, ceiling, stairs and railings. Even the roof is an innovative arrangement of bamboo shingles.

Sharma Springs is perched on the edge of the Ayung river valley, and comprises an 5 floors, with 4 bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms, kitchen, lounge and dining area with fabulous views, pool, and work space on the top (5th) floor, a media room and a kids play room and an outside barbeque area. The main entrance is an enormous bamboo tube which acts as bridge directly to the oval front door, where the lounge and kitchen are situated. Descending the stairs leads to 4 AC cooled bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms. The two upper bedrooms are the master and Lotus bedrooms. The 2 lower bedrooms are called Energy and Lotus bedrooms. From the bottom floor, guests can exit the house to the private garden and pool, perched quite literally on the edge of the river valley. All the rooms are furnished with exquisite bamboo furniture which perfectly complements the décor. The scenery and view from the house are breathtaking. The images do not do the House and surrounding environment justice.

On the other side of its pool, Sharma Springs house also has its own bamboo guest house, also with fabulous views across the Ayung River Valley. The guest house sleeps 2 adults and 2 small kids. Add $175/night for the guest house if available

The house includes butler, WIFI.

For dining, guests can order breakfast, lunch and dinner from our menu. Just tell us the day before if you need this service. We also offer private lunch /dinner catering or a Balinese chef to cook at your villa and menus from Ubud restaurants who will deliver takeaway meals direct. Part of our attraction is that we are set in a very natural environment. There are a couple of local village stores nearby with some very basic supplies. The butler and maid can help buy supplies for guests, but we do recommend guests bring along any personal supplies you may need, snacks, fruits, drinks. Other available services are massage, yoga instructor and car with driver, and other Bamboo related guided tours.

Located twenty-five minutes from Bali’s cultural center of Ubud, and 30 mins to Sanur Beach. Other bamboo houses:

This is an enchanting place!!

My only concern here is portraying how wonderful this experience was, in 500 words or less!! From the moment we were greeted at the airport until we were returned to same, we absolutely could not fault the place. The logistics and communication were brilliant; but the house is the centerpiece here. My wife and I often commented, throughout the ten day stay, that we had never felt SO relaxed SO quickly on any prior trips overseas. To be clear, that includes some ideal spots in Thailand, Maldives, Vanuatu etc. It was a treat to rise with the birds, grab a nice coffee and simply absorb the surroundings in various parts of the house, marveling at the structures, engineering, thought and details literally poured into one of the most impressive 'art pieces' that we have ever encountered - or lived in. It is simply THAT good. A few things not so clear in the AirBNB site (all positive) include; a daily cleaning service with two of the nicest ladies you would ever hope to meet, all bedrooms and the TV/Media room are airconditioned, you can order three meals a day, which are cooked in your accommodation by a 'crew', tables set, dishes gathered afterwards, cleaned, staff disappear, beautiful and healthy meals, drivers available to whisk you away to wherever you wish, awesome coffee machine, always stocked with great coffee, a minibar arrangement in the main kitchen fridge which includes beers/wine etc and the prices are about what we would buy it for in the main street - no big mark-ups or anything of the sort. In fact, the only pervasive sense that we experienced was one of the staff genuinely striving to ensure that our experience was as calm, happy and memorable as possible, often stepping above and beyond to source/sort something as the need may arise. Other points: Security is covered with a 24/7 guard contingent - totally unobtrusive, totally safe and comfortable. The Sala is great for Yoga and there are yoga mats available if you wish We did not experience any issues with mozzies or bugs - nice surprise, because we expected that there would be some?? Maybe just the time of the year... This was a holiday for a family with two kids - teen age and tween-age. Absolutely worked for us. We were not sure initially if there may be a privacy concern with the other villas across the river - absolutely not an issue. Again, the house/structure is the center point - but the staff and the 'always-happy' service they provide make this a wonderful holiday. We have already recommended this location to a number of our friends and we shall certainly be returning in the future. Thank you guys. Above and beyond, you put seven star resorts to shame.

Magnificent place. We spent 5 nights here and where absolutely satisfied. The villa is incredible, living there was lots of fun. Eva and the rest of the team were very helpful. The concept with open rooms is very unfamiliar at first but once you get used to it really great. Be sure not to miss out on the bamboo factory tour as well as the BBQ at the villa! In summary, we can highly recommend spending time at Sharma Springs!

This house is absolutely incredible. It is far more amazing than the pictures suggest. It is an architectural marvel. The villa staff were unobtrusive during our stay, but very warm and welcoming, we could not have asked for better. The food prepared in house is excellent, there is no need to travel into Ubud for lunch and dinner. It is also reasonably priced. Not a cheap place to stay but very, very worth it for such a memorable experience. We will be suggesting everyone we know coming to Bali to give it a go.

The villa was fantastic. The living spaces are huge with high ceilings as well as vast spaces. Its very relaxing to stay there and one could simply stay within the villa for days to chill. However, the neighbourhood outside the villa isn't that fantastic. The roads are narrow with lots of alleys. Many minimarts nearby to grab food as well.

Astonishing view of Ayung River valley, check. Superb design and details that made everyone wow, check. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, check. Bottom line extraordinary experience. We stayed at Sharma Springs for two nights. The property was a bit tricky to find, but Green Village offered pickup service with reasonable rate. The Sharma Springs Bamboo Villa was simply breathtaking and words failed me. Perfect place if you want relax and idle. Bugs were not a problem compared to rain season but when it rains there were more -- do use the bug spray they offer, as it was very effective. Our villa manager Eva, ibu house keeper and cooks are kind and reliable. Thumb up for them all. I recommend the inhouse BBQ set - the one with pork rib was so great that we ordered twice. As a result, we were very reluctant to checkout… Will be back again!

The pictures are amazing, but the feeling you'll have when you step inside this house is indescribable. I asked all 9 of my friends who were with me to describe it in one word and a few to note: magical, breathtaking, and paradise. The experience we had at Sharma Springs will forever be one of a kind. This was a surprise trip for my friends, so they didn't know where we were staying. When they walked through the tunnel, their minds were blown! They told me later they had seen this house on Pinterest and had it on their bucket list to visit one day...and now they have! Besides the house being absolutely amazing, the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. We had the chef cook up a few meals for us, which were absolutely delicious, and we did a cooking class one night in the villa as well, which I would highly recommend! I can't say enough spectacular things about Sharma Springs, Eva (the house manager), and the other staff that made us feel so welcome and at home. I only wish we would have stayed longer...'til next time!
