The Red Vic is an intentional community that offers select visitor spaces that make staying here like coming home to friends & family.

While here, we invite you to attend events - from talks, classes and skillshares to music nights, art shows or family dinners.

Close to Haight-Ashbury, the Golden Gate Park, and Twin Peaks, this central location also offers easy direct lines to both downtown and the beach.

With private and shared rooms, we welcome you to experience the Summer of Love culture.

The space

Experience curation: As a collective, our goal is in the creation of experimental place-making and the commons, and we attempt to ensure that your experience with us is not like that of a normal hotel or air b and b :) All your food is included, and we welcome you to embed in our intentional community as much as you like. You will find a range of events run by the collective on any given night, ranging from a free lecture series, classes and skill shares to music nights, art shows or family dinners. Our guest experience is cooperatively run by the residents, there is no management.

Guest access

Like its people, the space changes frequently and offers nooks and secrets at every turn. We welcome you to explore and discover its various experiences (but please leave spaces better than you found them)

In addition to events, lectures and skillsharing workshops, we offer access to a full woodworking shop and music studio.

Interaction with guests

As an intentional community, we are dedicated to building a supportive and self-reflective culture around respect and clear communication. By entering into our community we request that you heed these cultural norms. If you have any questions, do please ask! This is also an iterative process and if you have any suggestions or feedback on our process or culture, we’d love to hear about it.

My daughter and I chose this place to stay as it's right at the entrance of the GoldenGate Park and in the historic Haight area. The residents and hosts of this historic property were so welcoming and open. We rode bikes through the park and saw the dramatic Pacific coast. We enjoyed the coffee shops and yoga classes nearby. We loved being with you all and we've fallen for SF. Thank you for opening your doors and your hearts to us.

There are not locks on the rooms. There is no reasonable way to secure your personal items appropriately. It's a very cool place, and everyone we interacted with was nice.

Response from Amber:
We are in the process of updating our rooms. The majority of them have locks now (including this one), and soon all of them will. Thank you for the feedback!

This place is awesome! Super comfy beds and linens. Clean. And wonderfully funky. Great hosts and other guests. Definitely a great out of the ordinary place to stay. Filled with art and creative decor and a great history, the space is welcoming as are the hosts. Had a fab time and access to the kitchen was a plus. Grocery just two blocks away so we could grab dinner makings and head home. Breakfast foods were provided.... even for my vegan daughter.

Great location and price. Definitely not your regular stay at a hotel or bed and breakfast, but enjoyable and fascinating all the way, inside and the sourrounding area. Everyone was really nice and welcoming. Linens were clean and very confortable after a long day of walking around the city. Our room faced the street and the noise woke us up at times, but we were so tired that would fall back asleep right away. Overall a great experience!
