Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
Cosy, clean, quiet and spacious 2 bedroom garden apartment with separate lounge, kitchen and bathroom, with every amenity for a great stay. Large paved patio with barbecue and outdoor furniture and views over the acre of permaculture garden.

Adults and children over 13 only (garden safety issues).

Two mins walk to Locals cafe, 2 mins drive to takeaways/bars, 5 mins drive to centre of town, coastal walkway, galleries, and museum. Ten mins drive to Pukekura park for Womad and Bowl concerts.

The space
The garden apartment is all on one level with lounge with built in office space with office chair and a large range of plugs for charging portable appliances. There are 2 spacious queen bedrooms and separate bathroom with large shower and shampoos, bodywash etc. There is a kitchen with sink, full size fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 induction hobs and a benchtop oven. There's a washing machine, rack, iron and ironing board. There is a gas barbecue outside.

The beautiful and inspirational permaculture 1 acre garden is a Taranaki garden festival garden, and is full of sub tropicals, fruit trees, perennials and annual plants. Most of the garden is in food production, and you are welcome to eat seasonally from the garden while you are here. At the bottom of the property is a 5 minute bush walk on a boardwalk through a 400 year old stand of protected native bush. There's a stream and small pond as well as chooks, and a range of native birds from moreporks at night to kereru, tui and fantails during the day.

The property is out of the city hustle with lovely peaceful surroundings but still close to town for shopping and nightlife.

Guest access
There is one parking space on the level by the top flat. There is additional off-road parking down a slope to the lower level of the property. The garden flat is accessed down some steps from the parking area to the right of the front door of the house. A level access to the flat is from the lower slope area where luggage can be unloaded without carrying down the steps.

There is a large patio for guests only, and you are quite welcome to wander the gardens.

Other things to note
Sorry - I don't host children under the age of 13, because of the water sources on site, the 2m drop off to the garden and the rock walls.

Where you’ll be

New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand

Although I have a lot of neighbours, it is a quiet neighbourhood. The garden is a little oasis in the middle of suburbia.

My work: Teacher and writer
Speaks English
Teacher of organic horticulture, permaculture and biodynamics. I love teaching people to grow their own food and get out in the garden, getting involved in community projects and generally having a rewarding and busy lifestyle living in the gem of a place that is Taranaki. I love travelling, cooking food straight from the garden, reading an eclectic mix of authors and listening to great music.
