The Cove House is situated a few hundred yards from the Bonavista Bay, on a grassy hillside. From the large front deck you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the Atlantic Ocean. Icebergs, whales, dolphins, orcas, seabirds and bald eagles are regular visitors. Launch your kayak from the beach, take a stroll through the community, or hike on one of the local trails.
It is only a 5 minute walk to The Bonavista Social Club where you can pick up your complimentary loaf of fresh baked bread daily.
This home is owned by the Paterson family who also operate two well renowned local businesses, The Bonavista Social Club and Paterson Woodwoking.
The Bonavista Social Club restaurant and cafe has received huge acclaim since its opening in 2012. The restaurant harnesses the established farm gardens, animal husbandry and self sufficient lifestyle presently at work in Upper Amherst Cove, to provide a truly unique experience of rural Newfoundland. We recommend a walk through the many beautiful gardens and pastures where sheep and other animals graze.
Paterson Woodworking was established in Upper Amherst Cove, NL since 1992. Now operating as a one person shop, Mike Paterson continues to make wooden furniture for private homes and commercial spaces, influenced largely by traditional design and techniques. The comfortable beds, like much of the rest of the furniture in the Cove House was made at Mike's woodworking shop.
Most of the furniture found in the Cove House was made in
while goats and sheep frolic in the pastures.

I have always been amazed about the ways of the world and take any opportunity to get out and experience different places and cultures. I am an outdoor lover and in recent years my trips have revolved primarily around surfing.
