The space

The River Song Sanctuary and Retreat is located on private, beautiful, and healing land, right next to the boat dock. Alive with the sounds of nature, the river, and the wind through the pine needles. There isn't a better place in the area than this for a quiet sanctuary and retreat to get away from it all!
On almost one acre, it feels like more, because it backs up to a florescent green meadow and the Big Deschutes river. Within 20 minutes to the beautiful La Pine State Park and Paulina Peak with miles of trails and lakes to numerous to mention here.
The owner, Lori Salisbury's original artwork adds to the uniqueness of this special place.

Boat dock is only 100 steps out the backdoor to kayak, swim or fish. This land is at the edge of national forest with over 50 lakes within 50 miles.
Biking, hiking, golf, x country skiing right out the back door, and down hill skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling at Mt. Bachelor only 16 miles away. Bend is 20 minute drive. The high desert is only 30 miles east of here.
This Sanctuary is just outside of the Sunriver Resort where there is fine dinning, shopping, Art Gallery, the Nature Center and Observatory along with Horseback ridding, swimming, tennis, a luxurious spa and miles of maintained Bike trails.
Things that come with the sanctuary, hot tub, Megan electric far infrared massage table, portable massage table.

This home can flow easily as one large home or everyone can retire to their own wing, four different private decks with views of the river, meadow and forest. Interaction with guests

I enjoy meeting my guests. When I am here. I am happy to help you in anyway I can.

Other things to note

If you want natural beauty, peace, privacy and quiet solitude, but you also want to be close to activity, grocery stores and events this is the very best place for the price in the area.
There is a tame little black bunny named "Boo" that runs free around the yard. She will run right up to you and eat out of your hand. If you are bringing a dog, they need to be on a leash in the yard so the bunny is safe.

Make sure that you don't leave on outside lights except to come and go (star gazing is much better this way). There are lots of motion sensor lights to light your way and solar lights around the yard. Children are not allowed in the flower gardens and also not in the vegetable garden without an adult.
If you haven't rented the Tipi this area is off limits. It most likely is rented out. The Sweat Lodge area is also private and not a play area.
Please recycle! Bins are provided by the shed. Composting is also appreciated and containers are provided for this. You can leave the compost under the sink in the provided container when you check out. If you need to empty it before you check out, the compost pile is located just inside the gate of the garden on the left just past Ruby the rhubarb.
No smoking permitted inside or outside anywhere on the property.
No guns or Toy guns allowed here.
A dog may be considered ( please let us know before you make your reservation) with a 75.00 non-refundable pet fee. Pet's may not be left inside unattended and must be on a leash on the property.

We had a lovely stay at Lori's place. We rented the whole house and had a relaxing time with our large group, as there is plenty of space for communal activities while also lots of private areas. We enjoyed watching the squirrels, chipmunks and birds explore the yard and also loved Lori's art and the beautiful decor of the house. Will definitely be back if we are in the area! Definitely recommend. Thanks Lori :)

Spacious, generous, unique, artful, relaxing, homey. We were eleven for a family gathering for a week. We rented the entire place and had plenty of room for 3 more. Each family had its own suite with separate entries, decks, living rooms and kitchens, yet connectable onto a perfect central community living and kitchen area with deck, bbq and hot tub, so we could be together or have privacy at a moment's notice. Lori has lovingly designed every detail, with art and sculpture abounding. The quiet property is huge, and borders onto the Deschutes River with a dock; Lori's canoes, kayaks, bicycles and walking paths made for wonderful lazy summer afternoons. Lori was most kind and helpful, and a wonderful woman living alongside was charming and available for any questions. We could not have asked for more, and the family went home feeling like they had a real vacation for each individual, their nuclear families, and their extended family. Thanks Lori!

First of all, there were quite a few good points to this stay. The location is really great, next to a river, surrounded by trees, very private. The house itself is quite rustic and there is a lot of interesting art around, it is quite funky and unique. It is clear that Lori cares a great deal about the house and tries to make the stay special. I really appreciate the champagne and chocolates she left for us as well as that she was flexible and allowed us to have late checkout. There were some challenges, however. Some of the sheets were not clean and the pillows/mattress covers had not been changed for a while. The hot tub did not have chlorine in it and is not cleaned regularly between clients, which does not seem sanitary. We had to go out and buy our own hot tub chemicals. Overall a good house for a large group of people, however given the amount of art and sentimental items present in the house, I would be careful and document anything you find broken during you arrival so that you do not get blamed for breaking it afterwards.

This was an incredible place to stay in. Lori has made the house into a beautiful home. Beautiful art, beautiful furniture, yet very practical house. We had 5 kids in the house and everything was easy to navigate and the kids played safely in the house. The property is amazing. So much nature surrounding us.. it is truly a retreat. Lori was always available for us when we had questions and super generous and kind -- she extended herself with her kindness. I am so glad we stayed there to celebrate three families big 50th birthdays.. Thank you Lori for your beautiful karma that you shared with us.

We planned a trip to Sun River to celebrate my parent's 50th anniversay. And since we were planning on having 14 family members there, making sure that everything was in order was important to me. From my very first contact with Lori, I knew it was going to be great. She was amazing to work with and our stay at her lovely retreat could not have been more perfect. The house is unique and fun and right on the river which was so amazing for all of us and the kids loved it. She even has rafts and bikes that you can use! The whole family wants to come back next year. We also rented the Tipi on the property and that was a true treat for my niece and nephews. Lori has created a very special place with her very interesting art adorning the walls - you can feel that she does it with love and it means alot to her that her guests are comfortable and happy. She is a fantastic host!!! :) A couple of things to note: The house is stocked with everything you need. The only thing we missed a bit was a microwave since we cooked quite a bit and with 14 people having a microwave would have made things easier, but, it was probably healthier for us to not use one for a few days!
