This is a beautiful, spacious home. The master bed was very comfortable, with good quality bedding. The views are amazing! We were able to walk down to the quayside restaurants on the pedestrian stairway in 5 mins, which was nice. James is very easy to work with and gave us great info in advance on restaurants, attractions, grocery stores, etc. The major drawback of this place (for us, anyway) was that container ships dock at the pier below and to the right of the house. They load/unload 24/7 so our sleep was disturbed all 3 nights we stayed at the house. If you are a light sleeper, this is something to definitely consider. The house would be 5-star otherwise because it really is quite fabulous.

This house was perfect for four couples for four nights. The views and living spaces were so stunning that we changed our plans and spent a couple of evenings at the house. Wonderful place to chill and catch up with friends. Thanks James for making us feel so welcome.

there were 2 bottles of wine for us, a vase of fresh flowers, and a bar of Manuka chocolate, all local products which was a very nice welcome! the place was exactly as advertised and it was perfect! The neighborhood was perfectly situated, we had the stores which were a 5 minute drive away, local restaurants which were a walk away, the local butchers where we bought delicious meats and sausages, and we had the neighbors dog and cats, jimmy choo, Molly and nala who visited and the kids were thrilled with that as they were missing their own pets. We loved the view of the Tasman strait from the balcony, kitchen and the master bedroom and I loved walking around the garden. The house was extremely comfortable and spacious and this meant that the kids were more than happy there. With 6 kids ranging from 11 yrs old to 23 years of age, it helps when they are all happy with their surroundings! We lit the fireplace each day and had a few barbecues on the balcony.

Our family of four enjoyed our stay here. It was huge, would have easily fit two families easily but we did enjoy all the space. Very nicely organized kitchen and laundry. Large deck and garden that the kids loved exploring. Beautiful ocean or garden view from every window. Very nice beds and bedding. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer!

James was a great host; he was helpful and attentive. He gave us many suggestions on what we could do both in Nelson and in the National Park. The place itself was staggeringly beautiful. The views from the deck were gorgeous. It was so pleasant to stay there that we decided to buy food at the local markets and eat at home during the evening for most of our stay. No restaurant in the city can compete with these views. The place itself was spacious, very well laid out and with a decor that matched the style of the architecture. All in all, it was a fantastic cap to our trip and one of the highlights of our stay in New Zealand.

Richard Hewetson & I own Te Puna Wai Lodge - an exceptional B&B experience in an historic house with a stellar view.

We are also Aqua Vista Accommodation Ltd. We manage a group of select properties, in premier locations in the waterfront area & in the inner-township.

After 15+ years of B&B hosting, we've become adept at providing our guests with an appropriate level of attention. We're pretty relaxed, & want our guests to be too.

Similarly with the Aqua Vista properties. We've been doing it a while & have good systems in place to help the whole process - from booking to departing - go smoothly.

Come share this magical part of the world with us.

Pro-tip: If you are happy to travel outside our summer months, April - May usually has stunning, settled weather. And the crowds are gone.
