Other things to note

Iceland has one of the purest natures and cleanest water in the world. It is safe to drink the water straight from the tab. The hot water in Iceland tends to have a sulfur smell which smells like boiled eggs. You may notice this so don't worry, it is normal. That smell is because of the geothermal heating. The currency in Iceland is Icelandic Krona (ISK). At some places you can pay with Euro but you can pay with ISK anywhere. There is absolutely no need to have ISK in hand before you arrive in Iceland. Debit/credit cards are widely accepted and they are also used to pay small amounts. There are ATM's on the airport and throughout Iceland. The exchange rate is pretty much the same an all ATM´s. Icelandic electrical standards are European (50Hz, 220 volts) so many North American electrical devices will require voltage converters. You can buy a voltage converter at the Keflavík airport or at electronic specialty stores before you head off to Iceland.

Communication is the key especially when you plan for active break. You will not be disappointed here. Hjördís was always available with a lot of help and understanding same before our check-in as at the time of our stay. The place is very clean, warm and with all the necessity you will need. Location is very convenient same for down town trips, local access and country trips. Easy access to the area and you will avoid a good bit of the Town traffic. Thanks for having us.

We were looking for a place to stay with our son, which was hard enough to find, but Hjördís' place turned out to be ideal for spending a long weekend in Iceland. It was clean, big enough for the three of us and a good location to explore the rest of the island. We highly recommend Hjördís place for anyone looking to visit Iceland, whether for a quick stopover or longer to explore the country!

We stayed for 5 days and were very satisfied with Hjördis's place. The host were helpful, checking-in was very convenient and the responded fast to messages. The location is good if you want to make trips outside of Reykjavik. Would highly recommend this place to stay and would consider staying here again if we went back.

Super cozy and comfortable with the basics taken care of. Great location convenient to shops, grocery and restaurants. Reykjavik is an easy 10-15 minute drive. I would stay here again on a return trip - seamless check in, ultra comfy bed, and a great shower!
