This beautiful secluded private rental home is situated on a manicured 25 acre gated estate in a mountainous notch. Located 120 miles from New York City in Lanesville, New York, we are truly in the heart of the Catskill Mountains.

The space

This beautiful secluded private rental home is situated on a manicured 25 acre gated estate in a mountainous notch. It is surrounded by state land with flowing streams.

The house has a huge open floor plan centered around a stone fireplace. Modern leather couches and 50" flat screen TV make up the living room (email hidden) is situated in the corner to entertain guests with wine or drinks. The kitchen is open to the main room. Enjoy your meal at the kitchen countertop or at the more formal 8 person granite dining room table. There are two bedrooms. The large master bedroom is located upstairs with a queen bed. There is also a small alcove in the master bedroom with a single bed, perfect for children. A second bedroom is on the ground floor with a full/queen bed and a single bed. There are two bathrooms side by side on the ground floor. One bathroom has a tub and the other bathroom has a shower. On warm sunny days guests can enjoy the large granite patio overlooking a grass field with beautiful sunsets down the valley. Expansive, fields surround the homes providing privacy and serenity. It is the perfect, tranquil, Catskill escape.

Given the layout of the house, it most comfortably accommodates 1 or 2 couples, or one family.

The unique property has several structures which were modeled after Polish Tatra Mountain architecture, hence, our property is called "Tatra House". There have even been magazine articles written about it! Located 120 miles from New York City in Lanesville, New York, we are truly in the heart of the Catskill Mountains. Only 6 miles (8 minutes) to Hunter Mountain, 6 miles to Phoenicia, 8 miles to Tannersville, and a 20 mile scenic drive (approx. 30 minutes) to the famous town of Woodstock, New York. In just a short drive you can enjoy many nearby activities - hiking, skiing, snowboarding, golf, swimming, tubing, cycling.....

Several extra notes:
** There is no cell phone service, but there is wifi and a land line.
** We are always updating the entire property. Therefore, some minor details may be different from the photos, such as the color of the patio umbrella!.
** Rate is based on a 4 person occupancy. Additional guest fee is 50 dollars per person, per night.

Interaction with guests

Me and Christina are usually on the property residing in the main house. I ALWAYS CHECK IN new guests for security reasons. We are available for anything our guests need, just a message or phone call and I am there to help out with problems or provide information. The guest house is located over 200 feet away and separated by large trees/shrubs/woods that makes it very private and not visible.
Please view the aerial photograph of the estate in the pictures to get an idea of the layout of the structures.

Other things to note

We have a "soft water" well. Very common in the Catskills, it means the water has a mild sulfur smell to it. It is perfectly OK to bath in and wash your teeth. We do NOT recommend you drink it. We provide fresh water in the kitchen on the counter and refrigerator.

I almost don't want to share this gem. What a great secluded spot. The hosts are terrific and very warm. The house is able to accommodate a large amount of people easily, and without feeling cramped. I know we'll be back again.

Our family of four had an amazing long weekend here!! The house and the grounds were beautiful - every day we found a new aspect of it to appreciate - and large enough for us to really spread out with our two kids. It was perfectly situated for us to enjoy the local restaurants, Octoberfest at Hunter Mountain, and hikes at North-South Lake. There were so many fun activities to partake in, but the four of us also found ourselves wanting to carve out some time to just enjoy the house itself, so one evening in, with puzzles, s'mores and a bottle of wine at the fire pit was a perfect way to cap off our stay. Jack and Christina were also incredibly welcoming and helpful hosts. We'd love to stay here again!

The best home rental we have ever experienced. Traveling with a 2 year old and a seven month old, worrying is inevitable. When we walked in we knew the house was designed for a family. Our two year old ran up and down, around the house on the gorgeous property having the time of her life. My husband and I enjoyed the view from the porch while we grilled. Tenants need not leave the property for a romantic walk because there is enough to enjoy right there. I recommend the home to everyone looking to have a relaxing time. Let's not forget the hosts, Jack was in Europe and checking in with me often to see how we were doing. His wife Christina invited us upto the main house and gave us a tour. Such kindness! A great house with great hosts, no brainer. :)

This is the second time I've stayed at Jack's place. It is one of my favorite places on the planet. Something about the building itself, the beautiful view of the mountains, the close access to so many great parts of nature... and definitely the warm and welcoming nature of Jack and Christina. Everything is well equipped and well maintained. They are very thoughtful about the sorts of things you'd need but not remember to bring. This might have to be an every summer sorta thing.

Jack was an AMAZING host and always made sure to check in to see if everything was going well and accommodated our stay. He was even kind enough to greet us with a bottle of wine! I will definitely be coming back and recommending my friends to stay here. The place itself is so much more beautiful than in the photos. A perfect place to relax and escape the mundane. It's extremely cozy and in a great secluded location. It's very quiet at night away from all the noise and craziness. We sat by the fire all weekend, cooked, and refreshed our minds. It was even better than staying at a spa for the weekend!

I am a professional fine artist. I split my time between New York City and the Catskill mountains. My girlfriend is an amazing doctor working in the Bronx. I am an obsessed snowboarder in the winter months and an avid sport enthusiast in the warmer months. I enjoy motorcycling in the Catskills and we own two Triumph motorcycles. I love chilling out, entertaining guests, BBQing and anything that involves good company, good conversation and a good drink!
