Aroha Island offers a unique adventure for the whole family. Our natural haven is home to the North Island Brown Kiwi. Guests staying on the island can self-guide to look for our resident pair foraging in the wild at night. When staying at Kiwi Holiday Home you can relax in your own space with spectacular views of the inlet, explore the rocky shore and mangrove forests, take a bush walk, watch the birds, take a picnic at the beach surrounded by native bush and explore the night skies. Magic!

The space
The Aroha Holiday Home is a three-bedroom house, attached to our Eco-Centre. It sleeps a maximum of six people in two king beds (can be altered to four single beds on request) and two single beds including a lounge, large dining area, kitchen and bathroom. A private deck and BBQ with stunning views over the inlet and only a quick stroll to the inlet beach. The home is air-conditioned. Linen is included.

Guest access
12km drive to Kerikeri. We have plenty of parking available on-site.

Other things to note
If you stay with us you will probably hear our resident kiwis calling at night. We can assist you to look for kiwi yourself or occasionally a guided kiwi experience is offered at an additional charge. This is subject to guide availability and weather conditions.

The inlet is suitable for experienced kayakers who have their own equipment. We can provide maps.

Our water supply is rain water, so conservation is important.

Free Wi-Fi is available at our Eco Centre.

Because of our fragile environment, there is a strict NO smoking, NO fires and NO pets policy on Aroha island.

Aroha Island is a 12ha sanctuary in the Kerikeri Inlet and is a short 12km drive north east of Kerikeri, in the stunning Bay of Islands. A causeway links the island to the mainland, providing permanent and convenient vehicle access. It is a natural haven with a wide diversity of New Zealand plants and birds including the rare North Island Brown Kiwi. Stroll the private inlet beach, bring your own kayaks, take a bush walk, look for birds and check out the information in the Eco Centre. We offer a range of accommodation including our campground, Tui and Fantail bush cottages and our inlet view Kiwi Lodge…. so come and stay for a night or two and have the chance to see kiwi in their natural habitat.
