We welcome you to stay in our large, cozy in-law suite. Its expansive main window overlooks a beautiful koi pond, as well as a clear view of Salem's Mill Creek. Enjoy these sights while relaxing in our hammock or chair swing. Salem's downtown, Willamette University and the fairgrounds are all in walking/biking distance. At night, take in a magical view of the many garden lights throughout. You will have use of a full private bathroom, a washer/dryer, and, in the bedroom, a TV, kitchen and wifi.

The space

Our serene pond and waterfront setting is the perfect place to escape the city, yet it is within walking and biking distance to Salem's downtown attractions, university and the state fairgrounds. You can have the best of both worlds with our idyllic space. There is a coded private entrance that is well-lit at night for guests arriving after dark and parking for two vehicles. The TV is set up with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Amazon and several other entertainment offerings.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the basement suite (includes sink, mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and dishes) the laundry room, and a full bathroom. There is a loveseat in the space near the tv. Guests will also have access to relax and dine on the lower deck at the covered patio table in our tranquil backyard.

Interaction with guests

Whenever possible, we make a point to be available when a guest arrives to introduce ourselves, show them to the room and assist with any luggage. Throughout the stay, we are available 24 hours a day to respond to any requests, and are always happy to recommend local restaurants, pubs, shops and other preferred attractions.

Other things to note

Our home is located straight at the end of Wander Way. Our house number is displayed both in the front yard next to the arched trellis and next to the front door.
Litter boxes are regularly cleaned and kept below the red stairs to the hosts' level. To prevent our 2 curious cats from accessing your bedroom and bathroom, keep all basement level doors closed during your stay. Although we take great effort to mitigate any odor, guests will occasionally catch notice of the liter box smell while briefly going from the bedroom to the bathroom. Please keep this in mind if you're unfamiliar with cats, or especially bothered by these smells.

Nice place tucked away off the main road in a quiet neighborhood. Nice view out the back to the creek. Very comfortable bed. The hosts were not friendly and never spoke to us except to be upset that we were there 15 min early even though we has messaged them to ask if it was ok. The hallway smelled of cat urine and when I was in the bathroom a cat must have come in our room and peed on my clothes which was very unpleasant.

Response from Nate:
Karen, we regret you perceived us as "unfriendly." This opinion was quite unexpected, since aside from us both greeting you upon our arrival, we didn't have contact and rarely noticed your vehicle here throughout the remainder of your stay. We look forward to interacting with all our guests, but unfortunately, we often don't see them beyond the moment they arrive. Our cats have no history or habit of urinating anywhere but their liter boxes, which are cleaned daily so that any smell is nearly imperceptible. We also notified you prior to arrival to keep doors closed at all times specifically so the cats do not enter. In regard to early arrivals: 99% of the time this is an accommodation we're happy to arrange. However, with only 15 minute's notice, it was unfortunately unfeasible, and did not imply permission to enter.

A relaxed atmosphere among the trees is nice to have conveniently located close to the busy-ness of Salem. The intimate waterfront view is lovely - and we were assured that there were no views into the uncurtained window at night. You need to be aware of the presence of two sweet cats if you have sensitivities. The beds were comfortable, the hosts responsive and friendly.

Very conveniently located if you have business in the central part of Salem. We really enjoyed spending time on the deck watching the ducks, squirrels and stellar jays. The trees were fantastic. We especially appreciated the attention Renee gave us when we arrived and spending time with her while she chubbed the "wild life" with peanuts and us with wine. Thanks much.

This is a great spot on a creek with a comfortable double and day bed, and small kitchenette. The hosts were very nice, and we enjoyed our short stay there. The litter box was in the common space between the bedroom and bathroom, and it was pretty smelly. Other than that, we loved the place.

Nice room with an outstanding view / patio. The temperature was perfectly cozy and the host left a nice treat for me. It was a quick commute to the Salem Convention Center which was very convenient. Only advice is that if you are sensitive to smells this might not be a good fit for you. There is a cat litter box smell present in the hall that connects to the bathroom. The space has lots of oil diffusers, air fresheners, and scents in general. Not a deal breaker for me but I realize some people are sensitive to this kind of thing.
