This B&B is across the street from the historic train that runs every weekend in the summer and one block from downtown shopping and dining. We're 20 minutes from Champaign and 25 minutes from Decatur. You’ll love the comfy beds, the cozy living spaces, and the convenient access. It's historic and charming, but completely comfortable and updated for your convenience. Continental breakfast included. We're great for families with kids, big groups, and corporate retreats.

The space

The house features four private bedrooms and one sleeper sofa. We can also add an air mattress or crib to any room for an additional fee. Guestrooms each have a bed, comfortable chairs, a 32" television, and an ceiling fan. There are two bathrooms shared among all of the guestrooms.

Guest access

As a whole house rental, guests will have access to all of the common areas on the main floor of the house, including a living room, kids playroom, breakfast room, and sun room. You may also have access to the kitchen.

Interaction with guests

I will be available to help you get settled, but my family does not live on-site. This is a fully operational boarding house that functions like a bed and breakfast.

My family and I really loved our stay at Samantha's bed & breakfast! We were in town for my younger brother's wedding and were looking for a place that would allow me, my parents, my brothers & sister, uncle & aunt, my grandmother and all our children to stay together. Samantha's place gave us plenty of space which allowed our large party of 12 (adults & children included) to comfortably enjoy one another. The photos are mostly accurate for this fully functioning bed & breakfast, but they don't completely capture all the amenities that you can take advantage of during your stay. The owners added several other perks since the photos in the post were taken, like a shelving unit in the eating area of the kitchen stocked with baking and food storage essentials, a mini fridge and soft reclining chair in the upstairs hallway, lots of toys in the play room, and there is also a stocked breakfast nook/dining room with table seating for 4-5 that leads to the kitchen - all of which was a treat to discover. I love to cook (and eat) so the kitchen is where I tend to gravitate wherever I go. The kitchen was awesome because it was large enough to cook for and seat everyone. It was like eating in a small cafeteria enclosed in a sun room, with floor to ceiling windows wrapping around the dining space. It was so beautiful and serene and I loved waking up and sitting in there, soaking up the morning sun. I was delighted to find professional grade ceramic cookware (which made cooking and clean-up a breeze), an industrial size fridge (fully stocked, btw, with bread, butter, milk, juices, yogurt, soda, all the condiments you could ever need and lots of other goodies) and separate industrial size freezer (with frozen goodies to bake, like biscuits and cookie dough and other treats), a toaster oven, a mixer, plenty of seasonings and dried herbs, and in the breakfast nook/dining room - a Kerug machine with an assortment of coffees and teas, hot chocolate, all kinds of instant breakfast foods and snacks, like oatmeal, pop tarts, granola bars, beef jerky sticks.... I can go on, but you get the idea :o) Even though my family and I decided to go out and purchase all our own food and snacks (we didn't even feel right about using the food that was already there), if we absolutely needed to, it was there. The rooms were all very comfortable, clean, spacious and included flat screen tv's with Roku, bath robes, alarm clocks, Kleenex, and plenty of storage space for your personal items. The carpets and area rugs in all rooms were spotless and pristine. The bathrooms were fully stocked with all the towels and bath products you could ever need (although we did bring all our own personal bath and body essentials, so we didn't need to use any. But again, if needed, it was there). There were plenty of extra...

We stayed two nights with our extended family while in the area for a reunion. Everything was just as advertised! The bedrooms were nice, my 5-year-old twins loved the play room and the snacks and breakfast items were nice to have as well. We'd never been to Monticello before and it was a great experience exploring the town as well. We'll stay here again next time we're in the area.
