This historic house is in the midst of one of NOLA's most beautiful neighborhoods. We are fully licensed with the city. Walking distance to the French Quarter, and steps away from great local haunts, you'll find yourself in the heart of it all right here in my comfy, brightly painted oasis chock full of Louisiana charm.

The space

Looking to get a glimpse of what it's like to live in the heart of beautiful NOLA? Looking to be walking distance to the French Quarter but are seeking a less touristy experience? My home is your place!

I've lived in this home for 4 years and it's been a labor of love, as it's over 150 years old and we've done quite a bit of updating (new bathroom, renovated upstairs) while retaining the old world charm (exposed brick columns, 14 ft ceilings, plank floors). The house has two floors, approximately 1400 SF– lots of room, but also quite cozy! I can accommodate up to 6 guests, as per city regulations, however please note that you will all be sharing one bathroom. The master bedroom on the second floor is huge (we've combined 2 rooms into one) and has a pillow-top queen sized bed. On the first floor, there's a queen sized eLuxurySupply gel/memory foam bed as well as a standard mattress/box spring full-sized bed.

The cool thing is there's a bit more privacy than in typical NOLA shotguns because although the first floor is shotgun style (one room leads into next 3 rooms + kitchen in the very back), the bedroom upstairs is practically an apartment unto itself. If 5 or 6 guests are booking, there will naturally be a little less privacy due to the nature of the downstairs bedrooms being shotgun style (message me for more info). The kitchen is at the very back of the house and the bathroom is off of it. There is a common space/parlour in the very first room of the house with table, couch, TV (there is NO CABLE but I provide a HDMI input + free *high speed* wifi provided so you can hook up your personal device to the TV and stream movies).

**The city of New Orleans now requires short-term rentals to be licensed. My house is fully licensed.

Guest access

This is a two family home, with two separate, private entrances (guests have a private entrance). Take a break from exploring and relax on the private front porch or on the little patio with deck in the small backyard (this is a shared yard with my friend & neighbor, Lana, who is an artist and possibly the coolest chica in New Orleans).

Interaction with guests

I'm your hostess with the mostest! I can be your personal concierge, seeing as I am a bit of an expert on all that makes New Orleans one of the best cities in the world. That said, I want you to have your own adventures, too, so I'll leave it up to you as to how much assistance you'll need. At the very least, I'll definitely give you a rundown of what's awesome to check out (and what to avoid). If no assistance is needed, I'm happy to just meet you w/ keys and leave you to your time in the city. Please note that sometimes I am traveling for work, so even though I'll be in regular touch, my boyfriend Danny may take over the house management. Either way, one of us or the other will be able to help you out when you need it.

Other things to note

I provide special attention to vegan/vegetarian travelers! Please let me know if this is you because while NOLA food is decadent/delicious/full of meat and seafood, there are many places who will accommodate you. Let me point you in the right direction.

This is a vibrant neighborhood that's full of nightlife. While nowhere nearly as loud as staying in the French Quarter, the area can be lively on the weekends!

Joi was an amazing host and her place was the perfect stay for our quick trip to New Orleans. She had great communication leading up to our stay and offered some wonderful local recommendations upon her arrival. We would love to stay with her again if we make it back to NOLA. The house was a convenient hub for all our day trips and there is a co op next door. Highly recommend this place!

Ok so the reason this place has such good reviews is because it's great. Near perfect location in eclectic neighborhood. Really huge and awesome bedroom upstairs that we didn't even go into the first night, not realizing it was a bedroom. She left 4 local beers that were tasty and some louisiana snack chips but unfortunately the chips were past their date and were chewy, completely inedible. The door locks are pretty weird but this may be normal for older housing. There are 3 beds and only one is a little uncomfortable, the smallest one. The host looks to be super hot but never saw her (it's ok my lovely wife does not read my reviews. lol) but I prefer more privacy in my rentals anyway so it's good. The fact that you couldn't cook bacon in the house did not sit well with my step father and it seems a bit much to me too even though I wasn't interested in cooking anyway. I am a hippy, in to organic, sustainable foods but not a vegan so I can't relate to this in any way. Some of her cleaning supplies are natural, like Seventh Generation. This is great although I would choose brands like Oregon Soap Company or Dr. Bronner's which have better ingredients and cheaper. Still there are some toxic products like the Tide sitting on the washing machine which I would never use. Most of you won't care about this but you should.

This house has everything you need, not only is it well decorated to really welcome you to the colorful New Orleans lifestyle, it's perfect walking distance to anywhere you want to go in any direction. The host makes check in super easy, provides all necessary amenities, and is very responsive to questions and concerns while still granting a lot of autonomy for the guests. The beds and fold out couch are super comfy, the kitchen is nice and clean, neighbors are friendly and the co-op grocery store next to the house is super convenient. If you're thinking of staying in the Marigny, Joi's place is the way to go!

Very nice house in a mostly residential area with some nice local bistros and night life. This has that laid back feel of New Orleans without being in the French Quarter. Speaking of which, the Quarter is about a 10 to 15 minute walk, and Frenchman Street is even closer. Joi is a terrific host; very responsive, thoughtful, and honest.

We loved the house. Its an absolute uniquely decorated place, lifly as New Orleans really is. You can do nice walks to Frenchman and le quartier. The best footstore is right behind the house. Thanks Joi

Joi's pad was in a great location, and was everything we needed it to be during our long weekend in New Orleans. As a host, Joi was top tier -- extremely responsive and accommodating throughout the whole process, but most notably during our actual stay. She provided us a wealth of recommendations, and none of them steered us wrong. We had an excellent time, and much of that can be attributed to the value Joi added.

I live in one of the most unique cities in the world, New Orleans. I dare you to visit here and not leave with your heart aching and immediate plans to return. I dare you!

I work as a Marketing Director for a website that is all about helping people discover what's awesome in this city and I thrive on discovering the best places to eat, drink and play in cities across the globe. A native New Yorker, I live in a lovely Creole cottage in the Faubourg Marigny which I rent out on Air B&B.

I am vegan and I have had great passion for this lifestyle for over 20 years. I eat out a lot (and can help veg and veg-curious travelers find great places), but I also cook at home. I thrive on traveling and finding the best vegan/healthy joints in each place I visit.

In my free time I like to read, blog, work on my novel, figure out my costumes for Halloween and Mardi Gras, play with my three cats and discover the best local businesses in town. I adore historical buildings and can't imagine living in a home that's less than 60 years old (my house is over 100!)

My favorite cities besides my home town(s) include Nashville, San Antonio, Florence, Barcelona and Berlin. I like staying in boutique hotels (I travel constantly for work), but there's nothing like staying in neighborhoody places.

I appreciate killer design (with a fondness for Mid Century Modern, though my own style is much more eclectic and leaning towards antique oddities and shabby chic).

I love to entertain and have hosted anything from intimate soirees to epic bashes for over a thousand people. I can show you how to have the best time!

I look forward to sharing my home with people who are destined to fall in love with New Orleans the way I first did, 20 years ago. As a host, I will do whatever I can to make the most of your time in my gorgeous city (if you don't love New Orleans, we probably don't have anything in common). I will help you find all the gems. As a guest, I'm considerate and appreciative of all that you do.

Life motto? I work hard, live hard and play hard.
