Berlin is a great city, no doubt. Patrick's apartment is a great place to see it from. Walking distance from the SoHo House and action of Mitte, makes it a very convenient location to explore from while still providing a quiet place to retreat back to after a long day.
First and foremost, the apartment is perfect for short, medium, and long term stays. I cooked basic meals for myself, eggs, pasta toast, coffee, tea etc... on the stove and in the oven which work great for 1 or 2. There's a little bench in window sill of kitchen that's perfect for an AM. Schwarma, Groceries, and convenience stores are all within a 5min walk, which is solid. There's also a smart little washing machine in the bathroom, that works great! FYI: American travelers, just know that in the EU, there are no dryers; Patrick supplies the drying rack, you supply the foresight to make sure that you don't need to put on wet clothes.
Patrick, left me everything I needed to get going, basic toiletries, snacks, beer, and coffee. So it was very easy to settle in.
It's also very quiet, I barely heard neighbors and a never heard the street.
I've stayed at a bunch hotels and two airbnbs on previous trips to Berlin, but Patrick's place is so reasonable, that if he'll have me, this will be the first place I return to.
