About this listing
Choose smth different and stay in an exquisite 70m2 private home which is full of character and located in a former furniture factory in central Tallinn. High ceilings (4m), large windows, and elegant details. A one of a kind stay in a listed building.
I like to stay somewhere special (and affordable :) when I travel and I would now like to offer the same opportunity to you, too. This is a former furniture factory built in 1912 and is a listed building together with its former machine hall nextdoor (now converted into unique office premises), and factory's working men's club (now a bakery) the latter of which has been desinged by the Finnish architects Gesellius, Lindgren and Saarinen (Eliel, father of architect Eero Saarinen). As to the apartment, have a look at the pics :)
My home is just about a twenty minute walk from the Old Town (am a slow walker :), and the nearest tram stop is about 300m from the apartment.
We have a lovely private courtyard and 24h manned security on the premises. Street-side parking is available in front of the building, and is free of charge in the evenings and on Sundays.
The nearest parking lot is 250m from the building, and 24h parking costs 2.50.
There are a couple of nice small local restaurants and coffee shops nearby, and the bakery nextdoor is open on Sundays, too :)
Two grocer's shops within a 5 minute walk.
Interaction with guests
This will probably be minimal; however, I'll do my utmost best to make you stay as comfortabale and pleasant as possible.
Other things to note
There is one bedroom with a double bed and extra matresses for two more guests.
Please, note that my home is unfortunately not suitable for toddlers or small children as it has not been baby-proofed in any way but instead has sharp corners, heavy doors, glass surfaces etc. Please, bear in mind at all times that this is a residential building and a home to families with small children, and you need to keep quiet also in the corridors and courtyard too, especially between the quiet hours of 11 PM and 7 AM. And please, absolutely NO PARTYING, or extra guests of any kind as this apartment is at all times for up to 4 paying guests, only. This is my home and I have put a lot of time and effort into making it look like this, and I expect my guests to realise this and act accordingly. Yet I do understand accidents happen, and I kindly ask you to let me know so that we can sort it out as necessary. And last but not least: please remove your shoes : ) It is not about keeping up appearances but simply how we Finns do things (yes, am from Finland). But do not despair as there are plenty of hand-knitted woollen socks provided by my mother, grandmother and an assortment of great-aunts to keep your toes warm : )

Probably just the usual meaning travelling and reading plus the odd bit of modern architecture, Russian classics, pugs, opera and ballet thrown in. Most of my spare time is taken up my small, slightly over-weight chestnut gelding Winnie the Pooh a.k.a Puhh : )
