Our place is a vintage 1930s apartment with a warm southwestern feel. Tucked into a quiet and safe area neighboring Maplewood, Clayton, Forest Park, DeMun, and other cute neighborhoods, the location provides easy access to the best parts of St. Louis. Even a trip to downtown StL is an easy 10-15 minute drive, traffic permitting. You'll have some of the best food in the state coupled with the best destinations all within about a mile of your bed! Come experience the best of what StL has to offer!
The space is a spacious 1 bedroom apartment with central AC and heating. The building was finished in the 1930s and the apartment has maintained many of the original amenities (for better or worse) that have been well-loved and used. If you want a clean modern place, you might prefer somewhere else, but if you want antique charm and warmth, this is your place :)
We know that rules are made to be broken, but AirBnB rules are a different story! Most of these rules sound like common sense, but just to be clear they are listed here.
CANCELLATIONS: Please be sure you understand AirBnB's cancellation policies. You can find our current policy on our listing, in the "Prices" section. The policy that is in effect at the time you make your request to book will remain in effect until your visit, even if we modify our policy after that. Check-in times are very flexible.
EXTRA PEOPLE AND CHILDREN: The max number of persons we can accommodate is 2, and the apartment has only ONE queen bed. We can't host any extra people (including infants) in our apartment. Sorry, no children under 12. Please don't try to sneak in any extra guests. We live nearby so we'll notice, and we don’t want to ask you to leave without a refund.
PETS AND SMOKING: We have a strict NO PETS policy and a strict NO SMOKING OR VAPING (indoors) policy. Other illegal substances are prohibited as well. If you arrive with a pet, unfortunately you must leave without a refund. If you smoke or vape indoors (tobacco or otherwise), you will be required to leave without a refund and there will be additional costs to cover cleaning costs to remove smoke odors and stains.
BOOKING: Only the persons who made the reservation are allowed to stay in our apartment. If you don't look like your AirBnB photo, you will need to provide a currently valid photo ID (current US driver's license or current passport). If you book for other people and won't be present yourself, be aware that we will have AirBnB cancel the reservation upon arrival with no refund. If you're a business, organization, government agency, or anyone booking for other people, please contact us in advance to work it out. Please don't book first and ask later!
PARTIES AND NOISE: No parties or gatherings of more than 4 people. Non-guests must depart by 10pm. No loud noise after 10pm.
NEIGHBORS: Respect and do not disturb the neighbors. The walls are very thick and soundproof but the ceiling and floor are not quite as thick and upstairs neighbors exist, so remember quiet hours after 10pm.
EMERGENCIES AND QUESTIONS: If you need ANYTHING, we are your first point of contact, day or night. We live nearby and can be there quickly if necessary.
LOCK THE DOOR. The apartment's front door has a tendency to open itself if it is not locked. There is an automatically locking (keypad entry) door at the front of the building that you don’t need to worry about, but the apartment door deadbolt must be locked to keep the front door from opening. Do not mess with the older locking mechanism (1930s mortise lock) by the doorknob, and if you somehow accidentally lock yourself out, let us know and we will help as soon as possible.
FOOD AND COOKING: We provide Nespresso capsules and tea and we leave filtered water and a couple of complimentary drinks in the refrigerator to welcome your arrival. We don't restock the refrigerator or provide any meals. Do NOT use the stove, oven, or any open flames that are a fire hazard. You are free to use the microwave and dishes/silverware in the apartment, but please clean up after yourself (at least rinse dishes). Clean up any spills immediately. Remember, there are plenty of great restaurants nearby too! And a 24-hour Schnuck's grocery store is a few blocks away.
LAUNDRY: There is no laundry within the unit, but there is a good coin laundry and dry cleaner down the street.
FURNITURE: Remember to use a coaster for drinks and please respect the furniture. Any noticeable damage will require reimbursement.
OFF-LIMIT AREAS: You get the whole apartment to yourself, but the closets are locked since they have my stuff in them. There is a clothing rack in the room if you need to hang clothing.
THERMOSTAT: As this is a 1930’s apartment, heating and AC can be quite expensive. Remember to turn off the heater or AC when you leave, and do not adjust the temperature to any extremes (below 70 or above 80 Fahrenheit).
PARKING: Parking is free along the right side of the street in front of the building and by the park down the street, just pay attention to any no parking signs (where the street narrows) and don’t park in the yard/driveway of the house across the street from the building, as they will ticket you or tow your vehicle.
AGAIN, ANY EMERGENCIES AND QUESTIONS: If you need ANYTHING, we are your first point of contact, day or night. We’ll be glad to help!
Hello! My name is Courtney and my husband's name is David. We are in our mid-twenties living in the Clifton Heights neighborhood just down the road from our Airbnb. I'm a Fashion Merchandising student at Fontbonne University and I enjoy selling vintage clothes on Depop, drawing, cooking, and riding my moped. David studies Health Science at Washington University and enjoys collecting vintage guitars, seeing live shows, and working on our mopeds.
We are very laid back hosts and we would like our guests to have the privacy of a hotel with the warmth of a home. Since we do not live at the Airbnb, we will be out of sight except for at check-in and check out. We always have our phone's on us, so don't hesitate to call or text us, whether its an emergency or just a recommendation for a good place to eat! We want you to have a wonderful experience in the city we love!
