"The Nest" is a private upstairs suite, with views of birds, trees, the garden and surrounding neighborhood. There is a separate bedroom with full sized bed, coffee/tea area with microwave and bistro seating for private dining. There is a full bathroom with tub/shower.

The space

I give attention to detail. "The Nest" has newly been painted and furnished. You will find brochures, bus information and fun things to do in our old fashioned trunk. Help yourself to in-room coffee, tea or cocoa. Toiletries included in the the bathroom. Let me know if you want a light snacks for your stay. Some folks want to explore the Portland restaurants, while others are just plain worn out when they arrive.
Free locally made goat's milk soap is my gift to you, as well as personal sized bird seed bags for feeding wild birds while you are sightseeing in the great outdoors.

Great private upstairs space with private bathroom. Never was able to meet Vena due to scheduling conflicts, but she was very easy to communicate with and even left us breakfast bags to go for our early trip the next morning. I would definitely use this space again whenever I'm in town.

Vena is a wonderful accommodating host. The house is very charming, quaint, and has beautiful landscaping. Quick commute to Portland and hawthorn. There is a train close by that will take you right downtown. Overall it was a fantastic stay at a good price.

Edward's bungalow is a beautiful and inviting experience! The space was cozy and beautiful with such attention to detail! A fluffy white bed, sweet little birds surrounding you, bubbles in the garden, books to enlighten, conversations to enlighten even more, fresh picked berries for the fancy breakfast, a quiet forested neighborhood. My daughter and I enjoyed and luxuriated and laughed so much in our short stay! You may even get some home grown cat nip to go!

Vena and Doug were wonderful hosts, and their place is beautiful. Check-in and check-out were easy, they were very quick with responses to queries and coordination. The house itself is adorable, and they have two suites here, a lovely 1BR upstairs and another more spacious and cooler one 1BR downstairs, and they and the main part of the house is on the main floor. We got there in the middle of a heat wave, and originally were going to be upstairs, but Vena offered the downstairs suite which was even more cool and comfortable. The place is clean, in a really lovely and quiet neighbourhood, and a short drive to great brunch places and funky neighbourhoods. They also provided breakfast, which was a great bonus. Overall, great location, and quite lovely living quarters, for a very reasonable price; we'd love to stay here again.

I am a fun loving person/mom/nurse. I love to have all sorts of fun and try new things. It has long been my dream to do this kind of hosting. I have traveled the world and found staying in Inns and homes provided an extra layer of comfort. My husband and I used AirBnb on our honeymoon in Paris May 2016 and loved it. Oui Oui! We are Christians that love to build and maintain friendships, dinner parties, live music of all kinds (We had Show tunes for our wedding music last year!) We love the great outdoors-hiking, kayaking and camping.
We have a herb and vegetable garden that provides us and the inn with fresh food.
My husband is a wine expert and I am certified tea specialist. He has hosted several wine tours in Central California and I have enjoyed hosting themed tea parties for friends and community groups. I also have enjoyed public speaking about the health qualities of tea and etiquette.
A few things i cannot live without: God, my hubby, my kids, music, yoga and dance, my cat , humor, and good food. And sunshine, when Portland wants to provide it!
My mottos are: Work hard and play hard. and Quid pro Quo, which to me really mean give and take. I am a care giver by trade, so I work and love hard. But I also realize that I need to take care of myself too. I try to be thankful and look at the funny side of life. Otherwise life can be too stressful. Life has to have meaning.
