Welcome to Selby's Pied-à-terre! Awesome location in close proximity to all DC has to offer. 1 block to metro. Light-filled private bedroom with antique furnishings and private bathroom with amenities in a newly-renovated condo. Help yourself to a Nespresso before and/or after a wonderful day exploring our Nation's Capital.

The space

This is probably the friendliest neighborhood I've lived in in Washington, DC! The condo was fully renovated in 2015 and is filled with tons of natural light.

The condo is the lower 2 levels of a 2-unit condo building. Guests walk downstairs to enter the unit and upstairs to get to the bedroom level.

In the bedroom, you'll find a Stearns & Foster queen bed set on an antique frame. There is a large antique chest of drawers with full mirror available for you to unpack your belongings, as well as a large closet in which you can hang your clothes. If they've become wrinkled during your travels, there's also an iron and ironing board for your use.

If you find yourself unable to sleep, there's a TV connected with a Roku and Chromecast to which you can stream from your phone or laptop using the in-house wifi.

The bathroom has amenities should you accidentally forget, including a hair dryer.

In the kitchen, you only have use of a Nespresso machine that makes American coffee, espresso and lattes and access to filtered water. Just remember you can't have food or drink on the metro. There is no access to the refrigerator, appliances or any other items in the kitchen. There are tons of great restaurants in DC and you won't be disappointed!

The Stadium-Armory metro stop is one block away. There are also several bus lines within a block that will take you anywhere in the city. There are 2 Capital Bikeshare stops within 4 blocks.

I have a small cocker spaniel/poodle mix named Selby who loves people! Between her, outside security cameras and an alarm system, the house, you, and your belongings are very secure!

Guest access

I only provide a private bedroom, private bathroom, Nespresso maker and filtered water. I do not provide access to other areas of the house.

Interaction with guests

I live in the condo and am happy to speak with you about great places to see during your visit and also give restaurant recommendations. I've lived in DC off and on for the 30 years and absolutely love living here. Selby, my dog, loves being pet! I speak Swedish and understand Tagalog and Spanish.

The bedrooms are on opposite ends of a large floor and I will fully respect your privacy, as I know you will respect mine.

Other things to note

There is free on-street parking, though it is limited to 2 hours between 7am and 8:30pm weekdays and no parking is allowed during events at RFK. If you drive and need to leave your car parked during the day, I am happy to obtain a visitor's permit if you let me know your license plate number at least 3 days in advance.

Everything was good and I really appreciated Barbaras offer of leaving my luggage for some hours after checking out. Just couldn't use the kitchen, but I knew before and it wasn't an issue.

If you are looking for a clean cozy place -this is for you. Barbara was delightful from the beginning to the end. The bathroom is stocked with toiletries and a comfortable bed. Her space is quiet and her little dog Selby is cute and friendly. Barbara knows the area well and you are a quick 2 minute walk to the metro. Our stay was great!

This is my second time staying here, and as usual, it was a lovely stay. I was in town to attend a conference and visit friends in town. Selby's place is super convenient to the Metro (only a block away), and super clean and comfortable. It's perfect for getting a good night's rest, a hot shower, and a good cup of coffee to take with me as I head downtown. I highly recommend Selby's and will try to stay here whenever I'm in town.

Barbara is a Great Host and a treasure trove of information about the neighborhood. She has a very nice house and wants her guests to share it but also to keep it that way. Highly recommended for people who love to explore DC on foot.

Barbara was the perfect hostess and the room was just lovely. Comfy bed, clean, nice bathroom - all the necessary amenities a traveler could wish for. The close promixity to the Metro was also a bonus. Just around the corner and it's just a couple of stops and you're in the heart of DC. Highly recommended!
