Christie & Cliff welcome you to their historic island home! Watch the small airplanes take off and land from our Victorian front porch, or sit on our back deck and enjoy the gardens. Take a dip in our hot tub? In the morning, or anytime throughout your stay, enjoy organic stuff: coffee, protein bars, yogurt, oatmeal, and fruit. All bathroom amenities are provided, along with lush bedding, towels and spa-like bathrobes. Enjoy and relax. We want to share our Freshwater Retreat with you!
We, Christie & Cliff, bought this home five years ago and due to its historic nature, have done everything we can to keep it nostalgic, but have added modern updates for guest comfort. We have spent hours on updates and given it extra love inside and outside. You'll see Christie often in her gardens or gift shop, located on-site. But, Cliff is often out on his boat with a fishing charter. Grown daughters Meredith & Anna are sometimes around, when not working their summer jobs. We've created lots of relaxing spaces throughout the gardens, deck, front porch, and on 3-season breakfast room. An outdoor shower is available, as well as an outdoor hot-tub! A spa-like steam shower is inside on the first floor and a regular full tub/shower is upstairs. You will be staying in one of the five rooms we have pictured here on AirBnB.
We are very proud of our outdoor spaces, which include English Gardens galore. Lavender, roses and herbs are spread throughout the property as well as hostas and lilies.
Guests can enter and exit through our back door.
Interaction with guests
We are available for questions via text or stop in our Wellness Gift Shoppe (on site) for face-to-face contact.
Other things to note
We do have backyard chickens and a cat BUT, he is the most friendly of cats you've ever met and we maintain strict cleaning codes for those worried about allergies. Also, we know the reputation of the island being a "Party Island" (Christie's family has been here for 5 generations, so she is very aware...) However, we do insist upon our guests being courteous and respectful. Treat the island and our home like you would treat your own home. No extreme drunkenness or rude behavior will be tolerated and we don't want to have to ask you to leave. Thank you!
- after 11 PM we ask for peace and quiet
I am a fifth generation islander from Put-in-Bay, Ohio. For 19 years, I've was a public school teacher here on the island, but gave it up last year when my youngest went off to college. I have been writing for our local paper for six year now, and now am an entrepreneur, (like my ancestors before me who came to live on the island.) I have two grown daughters, a loving husband -who LOVES to fish on Lake Erie- and a lot of extended family all around the island.
