Traditional farmhouse in a great location with an amazing view. A brilliant base for touring - relaxing and peaceful, yet near amenities and transport links.
Our home, "La Casita' is a pretty three bed village house build over three levels into the hillside of Portugalejo. It has a small pool, a patio with a lemon tree, a dining terrace and lots of character!
La Casita is a little unusual in that the three bedrooms are on the middle floor! There are great views of the Spanish countryside from all levels because the house is on a hill. A car can be parked directly outside or guests can walk the short but very steep access road from the bus stop.
The house has two entrances: the front entrance is on the lower floor and is shaded by the patio but guests will usually enter by the higher door next to the car parking area.
The large terrace, accessed from the top floor kitchen / living space, is a great space for alfresco dining. The washing dries very quickly here! Down a flight of stairs are the 3 bedrooms all of which have remotely controlled ceiling fans. One back bedroom has a king-size bed and a juliet balcony with a view over the plunge pool, the other back bedroom has a single and a double bed, and the bathroom (with a bath and shower over) lies in between. The washing machine is in the bathroom. The front bedroom contains a double and a single and has the same great view as the dining terrace. There are therefore beds for 8, plus a sofa bed for occasional use in the downstairs living room.
The communal living room is on the ground floor in this quirky farmhouse and this opens onto the long lush patio. The patio is a great shaded private place to unwind, have a drink, read a book or practise yoga. The lemon tree produces fruit all year round. Terracotta steps take you up to the small pool and the space a few more steps up is a great place to catch the sun.
Our guests will have access to the entire house (log on to our wifi, pick the lemons, use the hair dryer) but are asked to respect the personal belongings in our home.
Interaction with guests
Guests will have access to the whole house so we won’t be there during your stay. However, we will be contactable by email, text, message platforms (details will be sent via dropbox once your booking is confirmed) and we have a arranged a neighbour to be available if you have local queries.
Other things to note
‘La Casita’ is a very old house. The kitchen entrance is low, so tall people will need to watch their head! Although the access road is short it is steep. There are some great walks from and around the house but the area is not suitable for people with mobility issues. Neither is it suitable for very small children - the price of the amazing view is very steep drops. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK LA CASITA IF YOU HAVE PRE-SCHOOL AGED CHILDREN.
There is no waste collection from the house and rubbish should be dropped down a chute on the access road. Our neighbours have friendly, well behaved dogs.
