Clean and quiet. This is a no frills room with irregular wifi. Hostess is friendly and quick to respond to questions.

I should first clarify that I stayed in the two-bedroom basement unit for six nights. Also, please note that Despena has accurately indicated in the listing that this unit has absolutely minimal amenities. As other reviewers have also noted how absolutely minimal the amenities are; to the extent that some basic amenities you would normally expect in any tourist/guest accommodation was missing. For example, there is no closet and the only place you could hang anything was a single over-the-door hanger. There were no hooks in the bathroom, so I had to hang my towel from the door knob; there wasn't even a toilet paper holder! There was a minibar and microwave in each room but not even a small table that could be used for dining. Other than the small single beds, there is only one console table and one chair in each room. So, I had absolutely no appetite for eating in! The WiFi was slow which was quite annoying since there is no TV or even Radio in the rooms. And the walls are paper thin and apparently the host's laundry room is in the basement next to one of the bedrooms. I felt like the host was in the room when she was talking in the laundry room. And the other room? At night, I could easily hear the snoring from the person sleeping next door! Overall, I would say that I was disappointed but perhaps it was my own mistake as the listing indicates that this is a bare-bones unit. Having said that, I think some basic essentials such as those mentioned above are expected in any Airbnb accommodation. I must add that the location is very good although a bit far from downtown. But getting anywhere in the city is relatively easy by public transit as B-Line (99) has regular service and its stop is within 5-minute distance of the accommodation. Finally, and regarding pricing, $120-per-night is in my opinion too high a price.

The location for this air bnb is perfect as it is one bus ride away from the city centre. It also is in a trendy location with bars, shops and great food only minutes away. We were cozy in this basement apartment and enjoyed the spacious rooms.

This place was great! It was incredibly convenient to the bus line and the beach. I was able to walk to the gym and a few delicious breakfast places in the morning and it was a super quiet neighborhood and place to stay. It also felt safe at night. It was clean and comfortable to stay in. Despena was a very responsive host and the room was exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely stay there again the next time I visit Vancouver!

Overall our stay at Despena's place was solid. Check in was very easy with the lock box and we found plenty of street parking outside of the permit zones. The place itself was also clean and a good value for a whole apartment to ourselves, as well as close to transit. The place would definitely be ideal for anyone looking for a no frills place to rest their head, especially for friends traveling together with the separate bedrooms! A few things I would note for future travelers: the ceiling is a bit lower than in a normal apartment since this is a garden, which was fine, but at times made moving about difficult for myself being a bit on the tall side at 6'1"--I could definitely walk around though; the beds are only twin size, which would be great for two friends, but proved a bit of a challenge for my girlfriend and I; there is no true kitchen, which was fine for us being close to grocery stores and restaurants, but could impact anyone who prefers to cook on vacation. Thanks Despena!
