Charming waterside 2-storey cottage apartment with beach access on the Gippsland Lakes.

Located only a 10 minute stroll along the water's edge from Paynesville's harbour, restaurants & koalas on Raymond Island.

Facilities include verandah, kitchen & bathroom downstairs. Upstairs, a spacious loft with sleeping for 4 people & lounge. Car park. Wifi.

Our house is located on the same allotment and is front of the apartment, so you can always knock on our door if you need something.

The space

The apartment is located on the same allotment as our house which is only 20 metres from the waters edge. You have direct access to a beautiful swimming beach called 'Sunset Cove' via a path next to our home. There are glimpses of the water from the loft past our house which is located in front of it.

PLEASE NOTE: we share the driveway with our neighbours. Please drive slowly to bottom of driveway and DO NOT knock on the door of the first white house.

The upstairs accommodation is one large loft (9m X 4 m) with a double bed and a very comfortable sofa bed for extra guests (4 people in total). The beds are separated by a curtain. Small desk, chairs & TV. Air conditioner.

Most of the furnishings are new, but there are a few antiques to add to the character of this lovely cottage-style apartment.

LINEN SUPPLIED.

Kitchen is stocked with the basics and a good selection of utensils & crockery and of course, wine glasses! BBQ available.

Parking for one car on site. Friendly dog to play with but she may steal your sausages! (Joking)

You are welcome to borrow our fishing rods.

Direct beach access. Lovely garden & water feature next to your accommodation with sitting areas.

Our neighbourhood is quiet and relaxing with just the sounds of the Lake and birds. It is only a short stroll to the town centre for services and restaurants.

There is a great 3 km walk along the edge of the lake that starts just below our house. There are even free BBQ facilities at the beach below us that can be used.

There is a bus from Bairnsdale that goes approximately four times per day.

A car is very useful to get here, but it is a great place to walk or ride bicycles.

Why not hire a boat from Bulls Marine or try to waterski.

Paynesville has some good restaurants, but is really a great place for nature and water activities. It is 'the heart of the Gippsland Lakes'.

There are 300 koalas on Raymond Island which is only a 15 minute walk from here. Catch the free ferry and go for a stroll.

Take our friendly dog for a walk. She will love you anyway, but loves showing visitors her favourite places!

Guest access

Direct beach access. Lovely garden & water feature next to your accommodation with sitting areas.

The front deck is our private space, however, please feel free to use the outdoor shower after a swim.

Wi-fi is in our house and close outside, but we are looking at options to increase the range to the apartment.

Interaction with guests

We are friendly and easy to get along with.

We respect your privacy and are quite quick in assessing your levels of interaction. We will show you the apartment and will give you a quick rundown of information that you may require and answer your questions. You will be then totally independent.

Having said that, we are happy to have a chat with you and are always interested in people and places as we love to travel and meet people ourselves. We want you to have a great time & will do our utmost to help.

If we are away for any reason, we usually have someone close-by looking after the apartment. At times you will be welcome to just let yourself in as we believe in trusting each other.

This Cottage by the Lake exceeded expectation. The hosts were welcoming and had equipped the cottage with everything needed for a hassle free get away. And it is truly by the water! The scenery, foreshore walking trail and local history enhanced the experience. If we had time we would have taken the kayaks out. Our family occupied this charming cottage comfortably, but I recommend treating yourself by choosing this property in the heart of the Gippsland Lakes area for a romantic getaway.

The location and amenities at the property were fantastic - it was clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend break. It was only a short walk to the shops either via the waterfront or by road - and the nearby walking tracks were easy to navigate. We had a fabulous time, the property felt really homely and the hosts were very responsive to questions in the lead up to our stay. We highly recommend the property if you're looking to visit Paynesville!

The place is absolutely lovely, nicely decreated cottage. The only things I found not very good are the cottage itself is not exactly lake facing (Only the one occupied by the host is lake facing ), and the toilet is downstairs which is not very convenient.

This has been one of my favorite AirBnB places I've ever stayed. Quiet, comfortable, clean, walking distance to a beautiful body of water and town, and, most importantly, Roelf and Juliette are special people. I'd have loved to have spent more time hanging out with them, as they're that cool. If you stay here, check and see if they've got live music playing down at the Paynesville Wine Shop—you'll have an excellent time.

We had a fantastic stay! Beautiful location on the water front and excellent communication from our host. Paynesville is a beautiful spot for a walk and lovely brunch at the pier. Thanks so much Roelf for making our family feel so welcome!

Hi,
I am Roelf and my wife is Juliette. I am a Skipper and have just sold a small cruise boat company. I love to sail, travel, cycle, hike and discover other cultures and lifestyles. I am learning French language and can speak Dutch. Juliette is a drama teacher and has some similar interests to me, but really loves all arts, especially the performing arts. She speaks a bit of French and Italian. We live next to the water in Paynesville, Australia, on a 400 sq. km. lake system. We have two grown up sons that we love and they live in Norway.

Recently, after using airbnb whilst travelling in France and Morocco, we decided to place our home with them as we enjoyed the whole experience. Particularly enjoyable was meeting and staying with genuine locals who were always proud to show you their part of the world and tended to look after you as though you were a friend, not a client.
We now spend four months a year on our 1910 Dutch barge in Europe and so we have a friend looking after the apartment when we are not there.
