It's not about the destination, it's about the journey. Built in 1942, the apartment has a fresh new look and is dedicated to the Mother Road, Route 66. You'll find nostalgic pieces and even the original route 66 series for your viewing pleasure. The place is ideal for those visiting St. Louis as it is close to major attractions. The one bedroom apartment with living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, and sunroom is 850 ft.². Close to the popular S Grand area. New, Clean, Comfy, Affordable!

The space

Although Chippewa place is located on a busy street newer windows make it very soundproof inside. The space is decorated tastefully mostly with furnishings from the 20th century. We also incorporate a number of nostalgic pieces with our theme route 66 in mind. We continue to work on our special Route 66 exhibit on our sun porch and will be adding more pieces as they become available to us. I myself am a budget minded traveler who would rather spend my money on nice meals than lodging so the place is not only nice its priced right. The building houses three long-term happy tenants in separate apartments who love the location because it's so close to the popular South Grand area and shopping further down Chippewa on Route 66.

Guest access

The entire space is yours. Although there is only one large bedroom with a queen size bed we can provide extra bedding for the couch and a single roll away bed for extra guests. Guest bringing more guests than indicated on their reservation will be asked to leave and any money paid will be forfeited. If you don't know how many guests you're bringing at the time of your booking please message your host before your arrival.

Interaction with guests

I can be reached through the Airbnb messaging system. Make sure you download the app for your smartphone for seamless communication with me. The app will also give you access to the house manual, Wi-Fi settings and much more.

Other things to note

Parking is free on the street. Always make sure to remove items from your car to remove the temptation of break-ins especially in metropolitan areas. The neighborhood is safe but for guests security a cameras had been added to the front of the building.

Greg’s place was fantastic! It was very clean, and had so much charm. The lovely sun room off the master bedroom was a great surprise. He had everything we needed, including an ironing board and coffee. He laid out his expectations of us as guests clearly, and the check-in/check-out process was super easy. He touched base with us when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed, and was easily available if we had any questions during our stay. Great host and a great place to stay!

The place I stayed was absolutely great, I really like the location and the apartment was just perfect . The wooden floors added such a nice touch throughout the home some of the problems though were I did not know where the lockbox was and a neighbor actually had to point it out to me and the door to get into the apartment was very difficult, for me to open . There is always ample parking, normally right in front of the apartment. The neighbors were nice and courteous. I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

We were thrilled with our stay at this Duchtown apartment. The location was perfect to venture out to different parts of the town. Everything was a quick 10-15 min drive no matter where we went. The place was very clean and accommodating. No issues finding parking on the street and we parked near the car lot because of the extra security lights. Easy check in and we appreciate Greg's hospitality and attention to keeping costs (cleaning etc) low. Highly recommend.

Greg is a fantastic host. This was my first experience using Airbnb and I wasn't sure what to expect. I found myself very pleasantly surprised by the interaction with Greg and the comfort of Chippewa Place. All of the information I needed was clearly laid out on the Airbnb site prior to my booking and in my reservation confirmation letter after my purchase. As host he offered a nice balance between making sure I didn't need anything and giving me my space. I'm also fairly impressed by his attention to detail and willingness to provide a bit extra. For instance the refrigerator had some basic condiments, the freezer full of ice and more "this and that" dry goods in the cabinets...very thoughtful. Easily the most important part of my stay was that the Chippewa apartment was CLEAN(such a relief!!!) It's obvious that care is taken when considering the guest that will be occupying the space. I am extremely appreciative of this. And all for half the price I had to pay for a hotel room that wasn't even comparable. The experience has been my pleasure!!

I visited four Airbnb properties before sharing my home and quickly determined what I liked and what I didn't like so much. I have had a number of careers in my life and working in the hospitality industry has been one of my favorites. It kind of gets in your blood so I enjoy the opportunity to work in the business again on a part time basis with Airbnb. My hosting style is simple, "surprise and delight" and then give your guests space. That's how I like to be treated when I travel. Having traveled around the world working in the cruise line industry, I feel like I have a good sense of what other cities have to offer. That's why I'm so passionate about St. Louis because it's such a gem. The opportunities here for affordable entertainment, dining, and home life are numerous. It's great to be a part of a resurgence for so many south city neighborhoods with all of their historic homes. This city was larger than Chicago in the early 1900's and so much of that architecture is still here. When you choose to stay in south city not only do you get a great location that is close to most everything you'd want to do here but you also help with the ongoing investment needed here. A quick tour of some of our neighborhoods here where money for re-development began to flow in the 80's will show you just how successful that can be. I'm also hosting back home in Sainte Genevieive County which to many is wine country. The city of Sainte Genevieve has much to offer with it's place in history in the birth of our nation. Much of the French architecture is intact so as a result it's destined to become a part of our National Park system, with lawmakers approval. Born in 1735 it is the oldest settlement west of the Mississipi River. Hope you'll come and visit me in both cities. I look forward to the opportunity of being your host.
