Note: this home was built in the 1800s! There is a low part in the ceiling of this lower level bedroom. You can see it in the pictures. If you are 6'2/6'3 or over, you will have to bend slightly. The basement location and insulating brick walls mean you will be naturally cool in the summer (no window and no AC in this room) and warm in the winter (you control your own heat). A fan is provided.

Oaks park was a great place to stay and in a cozy home no less. My friend and I had a wonderful time and would love to stay here again! Thank you Tara.

The room is cozy but the apartment is very clean and neat. The neighborhood is also good. It takes about 40 min to reach downtown so plan accordingly.

Great place in super location. Be aware of low ceilings especially in the shower, but overall great value.

Response from Tara:
Thanks for staying with me, Cirk. The house was built in 1889 and yes, there are low places in the ceiling. I think people were smaller then haha! Anyway, that's why I have it mentioned in several places in the listing. Thanks for staying with me!

The house is just like pictures. Clean, quite and comfortable. My friend is 1,92m tall and he hit his head on the ceiling twice, it's low for tall people. The neighborhood is great, lots of restaurants, bars and cafes around. Also facilities, big stores and grossery. Highly reco…

Thanks for staying with me, Juliana! I am glad you and your friend enjoyed the conveniences of my neighborhood. My home was built in 1889 and so there are low places in the ceiling. I have it mentioned several places in the listing and the photos even though the few low areas are not a problem for most folks :)

Thanks for staying with me, Hector! I really enjoyed having you and I am happy you were able to experience all that Chicago has to offer. I love it when I have a guest who is on the go and falls in love with my city the same way I did many years ago. Come back one day!

Wonderful cozy home, with a nice theme to it. Felt like a small getaway when I was in the room. Neat facility with great essentials. There is a commute into town but for me it was worth the price to travel! Just on the train near her location and you're straight downtown. Made my…

Hi, Cody! Thanks for staying with me. I am sorry I did not meet you in person - I was travelling in Vietnam with my son. Stephanie loved meeting you and we hope to host you again one day!
