Although I was considering a couple of other properties in Arcata, as soon as we pulled up to Home Sweet Stay I realized I had made the best choice! We parked in the off-street space and entered through the front gate which revealed a lovely courtyard that felt like a secret garden right in the middle of town. We found the house to be even cuter than the photos convey, especially the vintage (but fully functional) kitchen and the beautiful vintage soaking tub in the bathroom. As I was traveling with my son, his girlfriend and their dog Lilah, it was especially nice that this house is pet-friendly and has a full-sized washer and dryer for guest use, as well as a completely fenced and secure courtyard. We loved being able to cook meals at "home" and also enjoyed the easy walk-ability to many restaurants, markets and shops. I would recommend this property to couples, small families or individuals who love to travel with their furry friends. The communication with Christy was pleasant and informative and the check-in was a breeze. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Arcata!

Hi Carole, well after staying in Sweet Home stay and saying that you "wouldn't stay anywhere else in Arcata," you have made my day. I would be most pleased to host a future visit if you return to the redwood coast. Until (URL HIDDEN) well!!! Best.........Christy

Christy User ProfileChristy is a superhost.

Christy owns and operates Arcata Stay Lodging Network, created in 2004. She is the host at Rose Court Cottage, manages bookings for other Arcata Stays for her 4 owner partners, and employs 7 staff. Presently there are 5 Stays in the Lodging Network, ranging from studios to 2 bedroom vacation rentals. The “Arcata Stay Mission” is to arrange upscale vacation rental accommodations convenient walking distance to Arcata’s downtown plaza and HSU, which provide our visiting guests the most positive lodging experience possible.

Christy opened Rose Court Cottage for business in January 2004, upon retiring from a 22 year career as a sales representative in the apparel and gift industry. Blessed with a creative skill set, she transformed what was previously an office space for her husband into Rose Court Cottage and launched a new career working from home. Becoming a host was a complete re-invention with a very satisfactory outcome. Having traveled for years, she knew what lodging amenities she appreciated and has made every effort to provide for her guests’ comfort during their stay. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Humboldt County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and has also served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Humboldt Film Commission (R.R.E.E.L., Inc.). Christy and her husband share their home with Lop house rabbits and Christy enjoys introducing them to her lodgers as the Rose Court Cottage “Official Greeters.” Sharing information about the garden and the beautiful redwood coast is also always a pleasure.
