This Room has a double bed and twin bed with bathroom and small refrigerator down the hall for your drinks. Tea kettle, electric heater, blankets, towels. One Mile from Belleayre. Bring a bathrobe and slippers to go down the hall to the bathroom. 3 Stained Glass windows and large closet. House is 118 years old, do not expect the cookie cutter type hotel room. Towels are Bagged. Air purifier and refrigerator in room. Book this and the other room for 2 couples and a friend plus apt.

The space

We are in the heart of the Catskills and only one mile from Belleayre Ski Center. Enjoy your winter stay as we are only 2.5 hours from NYC by car. Large room which holds three people. There are three restaurants in town on Saturday night and one gas station with sundries every day.

Guest access

Room and Bath down the hall and vintage shop or porch to chat with your host about the history of this town or house. There is a therapy dog in the house, a Doberman, and therefore only half the house is available.

Interaction with guests

I allow guests to be themselves and leave them alone if they choose as I was a real bed and breakfast host here till 2009. I am very familiar with this area as I have been coming here all my life and been a permanent resident for 18 years. We do have a large vintage shop where we can chat and have some tea.

Other things to note

Wifi in room, electric heater, no kitchen privledges, just the room, bath and vintage shop. Coffee, tea and cocoa in the room.

We had some negative feedback about this host from towns-people. Though we didn't have the opportunity for it to be proven wrong.

Response from Joyce:
This is not the first time I have heard negative feedback from the townspeople. If I find out who it is and I know who it is, I will prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law for saying things about my business. Thank you Melanie for this comment on here.

Joyce was a very nice host. The apartment was easy to find and we were well received. We got upgraded from a room to the apartment next door. This was great, however the apartment had a strong odor of cigarettes which I am not very fond of. Other than that it was a bit larger and had a kitchen, which was nice.

Response from Joyce:
I am sorry about the smoke smell which I did not smell and I am a certified aromatheripist. It could have been smoke from workman who had just finished a roof in the back 2 apartments. As far as the water, I did not check the circuit breaker box in the hallway, perhaps it was turned off and that is why there was no hot water. I will check things personally as I usually have someone do all these things for me.

Experienced Innkeeper. I enjoy hikers, bikers, extreme bikers, writers, artists, musicians(we have a square grand) and really anyone in the world who would appreciate the quiet of the mountains and the ambiance of a 119 year old house. We have a very casual atmosphere and love chatting and drinking tea on the veranda or small vintage shop. I lived in NY city almost all my life and was a marketing consultant and a lecturer at Queens College but spent my summers here every summer of my life till age 19.
I enjoy the peace and solitude of the mountains and nature around me. I am very knowledgable about this area due to my family coming here since the early 40s.
My motto is If Not Now? When?
The house is very quiet and peaceful. It is 119 years old and not a cookie cutter room, you should love antiques, woodwork and old houses. I know this area like the back of my hand and can tell you the history of it and the history of the house. There is a dog in the house but he never goes in the rooms. He is a therapy dog. I love vintage jewelry, actually anything old, the mountains, organic food and Woodstock NY. I love having guests from all over the world as there is so much to learn from them.
