Location

Hampton, Virginia, United States

We are halfway between historical Williamsburg (35 m.) and Virginia Beach (35 m.) and about 6 miles or 15 minutes from downtown Hampton and Hampton University. Jamestown (40 m.), and Yorktown (24 m.) are both well developed historical sites. Military facilities nearby include Langley AFB (12 m.), Ft. Eustis (24 m.), and Naval Station Norfolk (18 m.) and recently closed but active and historically fascinating Ft. Monroe (6.5 m.).

Our own Fox Hill is a community with a history that extends all the way to 1625. Our property is on about 2.5 acres, and is just before the little bridge which provides access to Grandview Island, about a mile and a half to the Chesapeake Bay. A beautiful, undeveloped, pet-friendly private beach is just over a mile away. To the North, we look out onto Grundland Creek and Grandview Nature Preserve.

We've been happily married for 40 years, both former military, both graduates of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL; I am currently working from home on [one mill-yun things] while Ned is a contractor with the military. We are empty nesters, with two happily married, successfully launched kids, five grandchildren and occasional foster grandchildren. I spent a large percentage of many years caregiving my mother, who had Alzheimer's, while homeschooling my children from Kindergarten through high school. I love to read; my favorite novel is Gods and Generals, by Michael Shaara. I love to learn, we are both information junkies to a fault. My greatest joy is in helping others succeed. I delight in making my husband happy. The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is listen to my Bible reading app, and I love to meditate and pray. I am so excited about the future I am beside myself with joy! I try to make my guest footprint as small as possible when I stay with people. I want to enjoy amenities, but I also want to be considerate. As a host, I will be whatever my guests need. If they need me to be available, I will be available. When I was in Advanced Training, in the military, I remember looking for a place that a group of us could go when we had a rare weekend off post, to crash and relax. That is the kind of place I want to share with others. A "put your feet up and watch the game" kind of place.
