Great check-in experience
100% of recent guests gave the check-in process a 5-star rating.
On a quiet street just a five-minute taxi ride to town center and set in a walled garden, this little 16-square-meter house has all you'll need as a base for exploring Valladolid and Yucatan or, if you'd rather, for just lazing in a hammock with cold drinks.
My property is on the southeast edge of town in a country setting. It's a walk to center - 8 or 9 long blocks - but taxis are 25 pesos per group, 30 pesos if you call for pick-up at the door. The streets are quite safe to walk at night.

The space
Unlike most tourist rooms in Valladolid, the guest house has a kitchenette with microwave, fridge and counter-top stove. There's wireless internet, gated off-street parking and a roofed front porch with ceiling fan and hammock. Bird-watching in the garden can sometimes bring delightful surprises. It's a nice area with friendly neighbors and four small stores within easy walking for basic necessities.

Guest access
The space is fully outfitted with sheets, pillows, blankets, towels, dishes, pots and pans, etc. I can lend small things needed such as an iron, a hair dryer, small kitchen appliances. etc. I have two bikes available to my guests - first come, first served. Similarly, I have a small TV with a DVD/VCR combo player and various shelves full of DVDs and tapes.
I have a washer and dryer in my house with clothes lines outside. Guests can coordinate the use of these with me or, for a reasonable charge, my housekeeper can wash, dry and fold clothes for guests upon request. There are also laundries that will wash, dry and fold for 15 pesos per kilo within 5 to 6 blocks.

Other things to note
NOTE: In the late fall, winter, and early spring - Cancun and the entire Caribbean coast is one hour later than Valladolid. During Mexican Daylight Savings, there is no time difference.

My property is in a nice quiet area on the southeast edge of town with friendly neighbors. Three small stores and two medium-sized grocery stores are within easy walking for basic necessities. There are several restaurants within a 3 to 4-block walk - one of them has a swimming pool! Several places in town will deliver pizza and other orders to the door. Within 4 blocks is a movie theater where movies are often shown in English with Spanish sub-titles.

I'm Grey Raven, but I am also Harriet! A retired accountant and teacher, I've been in Valladolid for 11 years, and I love living here. I tutor math and English, volunteer at The Valladolid English Library, and am active in the Sister Cities program between Valladolid and Asheville, NC. Travel is something I've done, having lived in ten of the US states, Puerto Rico and five countries - as a Peace Corps Volunteer in four of them - but I call Mexico home now and I'm putting down roots in Valladolid. You will enjoy our laid-back pace, the many interesting things to see and do, the warm culture and delicious food. Welcome to Valladolid - our Pueblo Mágico!
