Other things to note
Despite having all of the conveniences of a modern condominium, we are still in Tulum which is an ancient Mayan community thrust into the modern world. Please be respectful of the environment, please go slow and respect those around you!
I've been living and working in Tulum since 2010, after coming to the area since 1999 as a tourist. I am very familiar with the area and can help give you some suggestions for making the most out of your vacation time while here. Please be conscious of our environment, and please do not support tours or visit parks that destroy nature and keep captive it's creatures (such as Jeep tours and Dolphin parks). If you want to see flora and fauna, I can recommend some excellent ways to do so in a safe and eco-friendly manner. Remember the only thing you should leave behind are your footprints :)
Please keep in mind you are in a Mayan community and 3rd world country. Take it easy, go slow, respect those around you and do not expect things to happen the same as they do anywhere else in the world, particularly when it comes to modern conveniences that you may take for granted (like internet).
Besides working in real estate, I am also very active with dog rescue and welfare in this ancient pueblo. If seeing the animals who suffer from the over-population and disease here bothers you, consider adopting, donating or sharing our information and help make a difference in their lives. Please see my page called Help Tulum Dogs for more information!
Thank you and enjoy your vacation!!!
