The space

Hello fellow travelers!

I have a room available in a large two bedroom apartment on 105th St and Fifth Ave. I recently moved into this new, fully renovated apartment with hardwood floors, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. I have a spacious and bright living room and an enormous kitchen. The apartment is on the 5th floor and the building has no elevator so you will be sure to get some exercise during your stay!

The apartment is less than one block from Central Park (at the entrance of Conservatory (URL HIDDEN) of the most amazing spots in Central Park), and only several blocks from the Museum Mile (which includes the Guggenheim, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and many others). The apartment is located four blocks from the 4,5,6 train (access to the East side of Manhattan and to Brooklyn and Queens) and about six blocks from the 1,2,3 train (access to the West side of Manhattan). It is a short walk in any direction to several great restaurants (Lexington Social for wine and tapas, La Shuk for Moroccan, El Aguila for the best Mexican food in the city) and pubs and a quick subway ride to the hustle and bustle of downtown.

The apartment is clean and very, very spacious (especially for a NYC apartment) and is located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood. The room sleeps 2 comfortably but can accommodate 3 or 4 if necessary. The apartment has free Wi-Fi, Netflix, linens and toiletries, free and readily available street parking, and two bicycles (upon request) for riding around and exploring this wonderful city!

I am a late twenties professional, spend much of my free time traveling, and have used Airbnb for years. I enjoy going out on weekends, finding events/exhibits/things to do around town, and appreciate peace and quiet as well. Because of my unique work schedule, I am often away from my apartment for several days/weeks at a time allowing me to rent out my room fairly frequently. Unlike some hosts, I do not rent the apartment out as if it were a hotel. I will likely be in the apartment during part of your stay and will do my best to make you feel at home, answer any questions you have about the city, and provide suggestions about my favorite places and things to do around town. Hope to see you soon, cheers!

Guest access

Everything in the apartment from the TV to the toaster (shared with hosts), Central Park and the Conservatory Gardens as your backyard, a short walk to the trains.

Interaction with guests

I will likely be present during some of your stay. I consider myself open and welcoming. I love to chat and make new friends but understand and appreciate privacy as well.

I had a great time staying with John and Daniella - both of them were really friendly and helpful! The room was light and spacious and the air con in the living room was vital in the very hot weather! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay :)

John was a great host. The place was immaculate and quite. Our bed was pretty comfortable and the room spacious. Perfectly located a block away from Central Park. We didn't spend much time at the apartment but when we did, we had privacy and when we needed advice on what to visit, John was available to give it. Thanks John we would definitely like to come back! :)

John is an awesome host! All the time he tried mightily to make us feel fine. Already before our arrival he made sure that everything was well organized. We had a very pleasant stay at his apartment. The rooms are exactly as advertised and my girlfriend and I would strongly recommend staying at his place!

John's apartment was exactly what I wanted for a quick trip to NYC. His street was quiet yet nearby two major train lines, one that brings you to the lower east side, and the other to the west side. Right around the corner is the beginning of museum mile, directly across the street from Central Park, so there is plenty to do for people who have longer stays. John himself was an amazing host. He was easy to contact, offered local recommendations and was very friendly and easy to get along with. The apartment itself was large and comfortable, especially for NYC standards, and spotless when I arrived. I would definitely stay at John's again next time I'm in Manhattan.

John was great. Super kind and super flexible. His apartment is nice and quite spacious (especially for NYC). The neighborhood is a bit of a hike dowtown or to Brooklyn, but is 1 minute from Central Park and has good subway access. Overall, a great AirBnB experience, and great value for the money.

My name is John. I'm from Connecticut, where I still work as a pharmacist, and I moved to East Harlem in December to experience life in the city. I love traveling, the outdoors, live music...
