Beautiful 1920's Spanish bungalow - peaceful 2 bedroom home in the heart of Venice off Rose Ave. Organic fruit trees in garden, gourmet
kitchen, 2 full bathrooms and open living room w fireplace. Walk to beach, restaurants, shops and Abbot Kinney Blvd.
The Sanctuary is a classic Venice (built in 1920's) Spanish bungalow with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. There's a light-filled, beautiful kitchen w granite countertops and a 1940's Wedgwood stove with double ovens. A small dining area with antique oak table and chairs extends off the kitchen and is the perfect spot for morning coffee unless you'd rather sit in the front garden!
There's a real, wood burning fireplace in the living room and a stack of firewood for your use in the front garden.
There's no TV but a pulldown screen in the living room if you'd like to project a film. There is: FIOS internet, lots of good books, room to practice yoga and an electric piano to play! The front garden has lounge chairs and a portable raised fire pit to gather round on a summer night. The back deck has a table and chairs for afternoon sunning and an outside bathtub for all to enjoy. The back deck is a shared space with Airbnb guests and me if I'm in town.
Beds: There's a queen sized bed in each bedroom, a full size convertible futon bed/couch in the living room and a single couch/futon there as well.
Guests have full and private use of the home. The back deck area is a shared space with whomever is in the the house and me if I'm in town. Renters and their guests enter the house through the front gate into the garden and then up the front stairs. If I am in town, I (and anyone who comes to see me) enters through the front gate and then takes the side path next to the house to the back studio. There is an outside tub on the back deck which is a shared feature with renters and me. I love taking baths there and will do that when the coast is clear. I'm always quiet when I use the back deck area.
Interaction with guests
I am available for whatever help is needed. I have a studio apartment in the back and if I am in town I will be staying there. If I am traveling I am always reachable by cell and available for any assistance that might be needed by my guests. You might see me on the back deck, walking along the side of the house or watering the garden as needed.
Other things to note
Mail is delivered through a mail slot in the front door of the house. I leave a basket by the door and renters just put the mail in the basket. I will arrange to pick it up or have my bookkeeper do that every few days. Also, I have a gardener, Daniel, who comes once a week and wonderful house cleaners, Maria and Pepe, who are available if you want to schedule extra cleaning while you are here.
No smoking in the house. Also, this is a family neighborhood of working people. Our next door neighbor is an emergency room nurse. After 9
pm please keep the volume down. This is a no-shoes house. That's one of the reason it stays so clean for our guests!!
There is much more useful information about staying at the house which I'll send if you book in.
Hi Friends! I'm Denise and I am a yoga teacher and musician. I live mostly here in LA and sometimes in Kauai, Hawaii. I teach Yin Yoga (slow deep stretching) at Santa Monica Yoga. I also play and record with various artists here in LA and with Ace of Cups, my band in San Francisco. The house here doesn't have a TV but does have an electric piano, lots of great books, a fireplace and clean open space to practice yoga.
I was in the first all female band in San Francisco in the 1960's, the Ace of Cups. The posters which adorn the walls of my house are from shows we played with The Band, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin and many others. Most folks really enjoy looking at them!
