Valley View cabin is situated in Kaikorai Valley with beautiful rural views. It is surrounded by trees and shrubs, and has a small balcony facing the afternoon sun.

The cabin has no kitchen but does have a fridge, electric jug, toaster and microwave.

The cabin adjoins our daughter's home. We live next door. Our daughter (Rachel) is a co-host.

The space
The cabin is detached from the main house and includes a queen sized bed, 2 seater couch, TV, ensuite and limited cooking facilities. The property has a big vegetable garden with fruit and nut trees. The hot water cylinder is very small so there's time for one 7 minute shower or two quick ones. The water reheats in 90 minutes.

The driveway is very steep. Once you are up the driveway, there are 11 concrete steps and later 10 wooden steps to the cabin. The lovely views, however, make the climb worth it.

If you arrive by cycle or motorbike, we can find a place to park your bike in the shed.

We have four adult children and eight grand children with two more on the way. One family live close by. In 1990 when on study leave we visited Asia, The Middle East and Europe. We took our four children aged four to ten years on our eleven month adventure. We have taught at a theological college in Tanzania for nine months and on the Wild Coast in South Africa for a further nineteen months. We have a big vegetable garden with fruit and nut trees. We have hosted many homestay students, mostly from Asia. We attend our local church so are out on Sunday mornings. Judy was a primary teacher and still teaches English to foreign students.
