Nate was a great host. He was really nice and gave us good informations. The neighborhood was safe and a subway station is very close.

Nate did an excellent job greeting us at the door. He went through the house explaining where things were and about the neighborhood. It's a short walk to the subway and central park. I would highly recommend their apartment.

This apartment was exactly what my boyfriend and I were wanting for our first trip to New York. We loved how close it was to Central Park. Also, a subway station is only a few blocks away so getting around the city is super easy. Ashley and Nate were easy to communicate with and Ashley gave us a great pizza recommendation the afternoon that we arrived. If you are looking for a low key place to stay, this is definitely a great place.

Overall, our stay in this apartment was acceptable. It's on the fourth floor of an older building without an elevator. The kitchen is really wonderful--it is a real kitchen with all essentials, lots of nice dishes, lots of appliances, and many other items (herbs, a basic food pantry, etc.). The main room is also very nicely decorated and includes many art books and other interesting books one can peruse. The location is also pretty good--three block from Central Park North and from and 2 and 3 subway. The neighborhood is pleasant, with a larger supermarket one block away. Obviously, since this is Harlem, most residents are African American. The communication with the hosts was good--though I would have appreciated a heads-up regarding the problems I mention below. The bathroom and bedroom are nice, but the layout of the apartment seems a little strange at first--a very long and narrow hallway leads from the small kitchen to the bedroom and bathroom. The negatives are the following: the street noise is substantial, especially at night, so sleeping on one of the mattresses in the front room can be very difficult. Secondly, the heat had been turned on in the building, and it cannot be regulated in the apartment itself. This building was built before WWII so the heating system is just outdated. It got uncomfortably hot, even with all the windows open--especially in the front room. Besides the colossal waste of energy this situation presented, it was difficult to lower the temperature in the apartment and to feel at ease, especially because it was pretty warm outside. Running the air conditioner would be a wasteful option and I'm not sure it would even work when the heat is on; the air conditioning and fan unit is also very noisy. Finally, the Internet went out a few times but turning the router off and on fixed the problem. Again, overall the place is fine but it's good to know ahead of time what to expect.

the communication with them was excellent . We arrived earlier and they were already expecting us . They helped us with our luggage and provided us with directions to the metro stations and groceries shops.

very nice apartment near Central Park, the room is quiet because not on the street side. Nate's brother, Christian was friendly and welcoming.

We have lived in NYC for over 6 years. Ashley is an artist and Nate works in advertising. Ashley uses the second bedroom in this apartment as her studio space. It's a 4th floor walkup in South Harlem close to the 2/3 and B/C subway lines. Also close to all of the new restaurants and bars popping up on Frederick Douglass and 125th. We love Harlem, this street is safe and we know all of our neighbors. We hope you'll stay at our place!
