We flew all the way to Tulum just to have our place fall through at the last minute. And Luca & Natalie came through at the last possible minute and saved us from living on the street!! Their quick response and action got us into their place within hours and we are truly grateful to them for that!!! The place is on the jungle side of the street, and it has a balcony overlooking the jungle! It's 2 stories, has two rooms and beds upstairs and one pull out downstairs, there isn't too much privacy, but enough to be able to change and have your own space. We loved it and would stay again!

If you want to dip into the thick of Tulum and have some quiet time too, this is a nice place. Best for a family since the two bedrooms are next to each other on the top floor. The wall that separates them doesn't reach the ceiling so not entirely private. The patio off the rooms is great in the mornings and at sunset. The kitchen is functional, but the living space could do with a refresher. Nothing but kudos to the people who manage the property: they're chill yet very responsive. All questions answered and solutions found to any small hiccups. If you need parking, make sure your spot is reserved since the 5 spots are shared with several apartments. You do have to cross the road to get to the beach, and purchase a drink or something at one of the resorts. No biggie, but some wouldn't let us pass. It wasn't a problem - enough did - though given the number of places that forbid us from even walking across, it might be in the future if Tulum somehow loses its glow and low-key vibe. Comfortable and mostly quiet, a good option in high season.

This place is great if you're looking for an affordable way to experience Tulum with a large group of people (12 of us rented out all 3 apartments, so we had the whole house to ourselves). Lots of space, very private, close to food/convenience store/the beach. Highly recommended if you don't mind a more rustic experience .

We had a great experience staying in Luca's place. It is beautifully situated. Very rustic and luxurious all at the same time. The bed is really comfortable and huge! The fan really helps with the heat, as do the completely open windows which let in a breeze. You can hear the trees and sea. There were hardly any bugs even though we were in the jungle. Some mosquitos as expected and they are everywhere anyways! Only slight reservation is the neighboring apartment which was noisy from time to time.

First the good: Great communication from host, Luca wasn't present but he had someone always available that kept in touch with us over (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) with any questions/concerns. Getting to the property from Cancun airport was very easy (it's literally a straight line), all you have to do is GPS Agua Eco Design Hotel, which is across the street from the entrance to this property (small unmarked door to the left of Gorilla Films reception). This specific property is the second and third floor duplex in a three floor apartment unit located at the back of another building. It has a beautiful outdoor deck that faces jungle. First floor has basic kitchen with working refrigerator, living room with futon sofa and full bathroom (with hot water and amazing pressure, which is a huge plus). The water has some salt, but it has to be the cleanest water I've bathed in. Nothing fancy, but what you expect from an eco lodge. Location was great, just across the street from the beach. You have to go through a hotel to enter the beach in Tulum, there isn't a public entrance since it's all privatized, but every hotel was super friendly and didn't even question us when we walked by. Just make sure to order something to eat/drink if you plan on using their facilities/chairs/outdoor furniture. The bad: Hot and humid as balls inside the property and no fans were provided, so we actually had trouble sleeping during our trip because of this. We notified Luca and his representative assured us that he'll provide fans, but that never happened. The fact that this wasn't mentioned by the host in the listing is a huge fail. AirBnB doesn't provide a checkbox for fans as an amenity like they do with air conditioners, so we simply assumed it was available considering this was the more expensive rental. It was windy outside most nights, but even so you couldn't feel much of a breeze in the interior space even though the entire property is covered by mosquito netting/mesh instead of windows.

Great spot in Tulum! We booked on short notice and Luca was very helpful and responsive to our questions. The apartment has great access to the beach, restaurants, and shops. We spent most of our time out on the terrace, as the sunsets were phenomenal.

A pleasant, if mixed, experience with my family at Casa Eco-Design for 3 nights. Luca was easy to communicate with over email and answered all queries quickly. We arrived late (look for the Aura Beach sign on the left side of the road) and Luca arranged for Sugel from Gorila Residencia to help us check-in. Although well intentioned and polite, Sugel was obviously not familiar with the place (he seemed confused) and wasn't very helpful or interested in being helpful. We were provided zero instruction on things like towels, bike use, beach use, snorkeling equipment, check-out time etc. The place itself is more rustic (darker and summer-camp like) than we thought, but it's charm grew on us after a few days. My young kids liked it. Waking up to jungle sounds and natural light filtering in was nice. The highlight was the balcony overlooking the jungle, a wonderful place to have coffee in the mornings. Located near the beach, right behind Gorila, we had no issues using both Om Tulum and Aura's beach clubs. Near many excellent places to eat and drink. (Try Zebra's breakfast!) However, once checked in, you are pretty much on your own with no interaction with Luca or Sugel, who were nowhere in site. We had a light that didn't work in the kitchen and I tracked down a very nice man named Javier (property maintenance) to fix it. During a rainstorm, water came pouring in from above along the walls and there was about an inch of water collecting on the bottom floor. Luckily, Javier was around to gather up towels for us. I wonder if this is a common occurrence? Perhaps we just experienced a real hard rain storm. Shower had warm water and pressure after a minute or two. Loud and repetitive music until 11pm nightly coming from place next door, but never really bothered us. After check-out, we received a very strange email from Luca asking why we had left our luggage in the room and didn't leave the keys on the table as per his instructions over email. We had checked out at 10am sharp and definitely had all our luggage and left both keys as per his instruction. Obviously, a misunderstanding or him confusing us with others, but probably could have been avoided with more "hands-on" presence or dependable help. Overall, a decent and basic rustic accommodation with a great location, but needs a few tweaks with service to improve.
