We had a wonderful 8-night stay at Casa Chantal. I could sit, and did sit, in the open air living room for hours without ever having to leave this beautiful setting. This house is all about open air living! Even though it's not air conditioned, there are fans, which keep it a comfortable temperature for sleeping even in the heat of the summer. The manager, Brett, can arrange cooking and maid service, which I recommend. One thing to note about the home is that even though it's centrally located, it is in a more secluded area of town, so if you don't rent a car (which you don't really need,) taxi service is your lifeline. It's also cheap and they came in 5 minutes every time they are called. Using the neighboring Condominium Leblon as the location makes it easy for dispatch to find you. The view, the pool, the lounge and dining area are the key features of this home. Although the rest of it is comfortable and well-laid out for small groups or a larger family. As for the other reviews, the "no hot water" part held true, but didn't bother us and we experienced it in another place we stayed in the area. Also, some furniture could use some updating, but it's understandable given its exposure to the elements. One thing I would mention is that my daughter was sick on the last night and we were unsure if she could make the long travel day ahead. We asked if it was possible to extend another night, but other guests were coming in, so that couldn't work. However, the staff and Brett offered an alternative... to let us stay in Brett's house down the street if she was too sick to fly. That says an awful lot about this team. We were really thankful that they stepped up to help us out of a tough situation. A great experience all around.

We are so happy you enjoyed yourself. I wish you would have told us about the hot water because sometimes it is the wind that blows out the pilot light and it is fixed easily. We appreciate your suggestions and will surely make the recommended changes and upgrades.

Nancye's place is better than the photos. It's a delightful location, very open and spacious with everything you need to enjoy your trip. It's close to beautiful beaches and the city for exploring but still feels private and tranquil. The staff was amazing. We hired Judy as our chef and she was just outstanding, kind and funny. Everyone is helpful and easy to reach. I recommend bringing bug spray as the living area is outdoors and make sure you check if it's the rainy season unless you are ok with getting a bit wet.

The house is great with an incredible view ont the ocean. Simple but nice decoration. I definitely recommend this house which is very spectacular; only bottom line was that there was no hot water nor shampoo.

Response from Nancye:
We were never told that the pilot light flame on hot water heater had gone out (which sometimes does occur if there is a strong wind). If we would have been notified of the problem we would have fixed it immediately. We can not take care of problems unless we are informed of them. We also do not say on the page or advertise that shampoo is included. We do, however, apologize for the inconveniences.

What an incredible home. Indoor-outdoor space is amazing. A true getaway on a quiet cliff overlooking the ocean. After long weeks of travel this was the perfect end to a trip with lots of relaxing spaces outdoors and comfort inside. Unreal views and close beaches. I only hope I can visit again. Communication on site was great and someone was near enough to help at all times. Hope to return to this wonderful home in the future!

The house was spectacular. Very spacious, beautiful surroundings and just an easy cab ride from Zicatela beach. The many restaurants at Boulevard Benito Huarez were just a 10-15 minute walk away. Brett was our host as Nancye was away, and he was incredibly accommodating and friendly. He recommended several of our favourite things while there, and even helped us hugely when one of our party was hurt and needed to go to the ER. The whole experience was wonderful, and I would highly recommend it.

Casa Chantal's location is unbeatable and it really is something to wake up to that view every morning. Brett (the caretaker) was super helpful and took the time to show us around the town and answer any queries that we had - he shared a great (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map with all of his recommendations which was awesome. The kitchen was well equipped and the house simply but nicely decorated; windows were mosquito netted which was much appreciated. It's worth noting that the third room is substantially smaller than the other two rooms and doesn't have it's own en suite (bathroom across the hallway). I'd also note that the pool area and furniture is a bit run down and could do with a new coat of paint. Overall though, it was a very special experience and we'd highly recommend the space.

Born and raised in Georgia, I moved to New York City in the late sixties. My 2 sisters and I discovered Puerto Escondido by accident while traveling in Mexico in 1998. I fell in love instantly meeting wonderful people from all over the world. If you want to escape expensive health care and high cost of living, we think Mexico is great place to retire.
