Such a great experience in Rui's house. The house is elegantly furnished and listing there is all retro style! The greeting service is kind however the only disturbing thing is that it is near the street, so it will be a little noisy until late night. But after all, it's quite adorable indeed!

This accommodation is a gem. Whatever there is to say about it, it will remain a gem. Gems are meant to captivate, to dazzle, to impress, but they are not ideally intended for everyday life. So is LOST (that's how the owner calls this one-of-a-kind apartment): All that meets the eye in this spacious 2-room flat speaks of the owner's affectionate attention to old-style decor, occasionally, alas, at the expense of function and comfort. The bigger room doubles up as living room, bed room and make-shift kitchen and even comprises a working stand-alone bath tub. Quite stunning, albeit not equally useful. It is best enjoyed by guests who appreciate being surrounded by lovingly assembled pieces of vintage furniture. There are modern amenities, though, notably the wi-fi and a rain shower in the separate bathroom, as well as reverse-cycle airconditioners, a flatscreen TV (which we never put to use), a microwave and a fridge. No washing machine. For first-time visitors to Shanghai wishing to capture the sights of the city, the off-center (but not really quiet) location is something to reckon with. If you are not into riding Shanghai buses, the next subway station is a brisk 10-minute walk away. Taxis are a fairly inexpensive option, but non-Chinese speakers need to be prepared to somehow communicate with the driver where to go. All considered, once we had found our bearings in and around the apartment, we had an exceedingly enjoyable 11-day stay and an appealing break from the run-of-the-mill furnishings of modern accommodations.

So glad to have Rui to be our host. He's so friendly and helpful during our stay in LOST. We're deeply falling in love with LOST, well decorated apartment by his architecture friends. The neighborhood is nice and quite near to the tourist attractions (the Bund). Rui also recommended us noodle restaurant which is just beside the apartment, totally delicious. And Xiao Long Pao (just a few walks from the apartment), is another delicious food. We'd like to have Rui to be our host again if going back to Shanghai.
