About this listing

This 24 ft 1/BR monolithic dome studio is located just 15 min S of Topeka in the KS countryside. It's furnished with kitchenette, W/D, TV, queen-size bed + shower. Beautiful views of our quiet private pond and shared use of Parker (our yellow Lab)!

The space

This small studio is a monolithic dome and constructed like a swimming pool.. but upside down in a dome shape! The most common thing heard when entering it is .. wow it's so much bigger on the inside!

Guest access

Guests will have access to our shared / private driveway and their own covered two-car parking. You're free to roam the 17 acres and even fish in our stocked 3 acre pond! (catch & release)

Interaction with guests

We work from home, and will probably be around if you need most anything!

Other things to note

The dome has a window storm shutter, that helps during severe weather.. as well as night time security and blocking sunlight on bright days!

Im currently a traveling student and was supposed to stay here for 6 weeks. There was a very musky odor from the beginning of my stay and turns out the dome had a pretty bad mold problem. It was around the window, in the AC unit, the shower (which I personally spent an hour cleaning after spending $25 on cleaning supplies), and in the refrigerator. They also said on their page that wifi is included, but what they don't tell you is that it's part of a limited data plan. They have requested that you limit your web activity to simple searching and checking email. I could have lived with the limited wifi, but the mold was just to much to handle. I have nothing against them personally and Alice is a very sweet lady (she even offered me fresh veggies from her garden), but the dome is just not clean. I ended up requesting a complete refund and checking into a hotel.

Very quiet and peaceful. Bob even invited us down to the pond for the 8 o'clock feeding of the fish. The "monolith" is an interesting accommodation. Well worth checking out if you are ever thinking of staying in the Topeka area.

The dome is in a lovely, rural area. I was here on business and drove into Topeka with no problems at all. Alice was responsive and flexible to my requests (some of which I had to make last minute). The dome is well equipped for anyone who needs to make their own meals or stay for a long duration. Thanks for everything!

This is a beautiful, quiet place to stay. I am a physical therapy student that was on clinical rotation and the dome offered a peaceful oasis after a long day of work! Bob and Alice were wonderful and very friendly! I really enjoyed be welcomed by their dog, Parker, every night as I pulled in the driveway!!! This was probably my favorite place to stay!
