Great location within walking distance pf the most important beaches of Rio. Safe. Clean. Cute. The apartment was smaller than we expected from the pictures, but that wasn't a problem.
We were a party of four so we used the sofa bed, which unfortunately was less comfortable than it could have been. It doesn't get quite flat, but has a hump in the middle. An extra cushion might help, especially since it was less soft than we hoped.
Our biggest frustration was planning check in and check out times with the owner Marlene. She refused to plan them before we made a reservation, citing the number of email requests for info she gets daily. While that was understandably, when we went ahead with a reservation two months before our trip, she still refused to plan check in and check out times, saying they were better planned closer to our arrival. When our arrival approached, both of our times were outside her window...which was apparently a major problem. She didn't want the doorman to give us the key not us to leave the key with him when we left. She didn't want to ask her employee to come in early or late. She didn't seem to understand that while we had flexibility with our times when we had made our reservation two months previously, we had little flexibility two days before our arrival.
We eventually compromised with an extra fee for the early and late times. The fee was reasonable, but it was sure hard to get there. Marlene was argumentative and accusational. She seemed legitimately angry at us when our plane was unexpectedly late. She also angry over a miscommunication about sheets. Until she realized she had made an error, she was angry at us for telling her we had our own sheets then arriving without them.
Other than our contacts with the owner, or stay was wonderful. If you can handle conflict or have enough flexibility to do what you're told, you'll do just fine. Since we ultimately found a reasonable resolution, we considered our four nights in the apartment a good decision.
