House Rules

No tobacco, alcohol, or marijuana in any form is allowed. Substantial intoxication from consumption off the premises is not permitted, persons in such a condition will be given a night in the motel two doors down the street, and their booking canceled. These conditions are necessary both due to renovation obstacles that could be a hazard to a drunken person, and the fact that the lodgings are within a foster/family home where setting examples of appropriate behaviors to "at risk" children and adolescents is of the highest importance.

Cancel up to 24 hours before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 24 hours of your trip and the first night is non-refundable.

John's additional single room with shared bathroom adequately fulfilled my son's needs for a short term stay.

John was very helpful and kind as a host and helped by giving me the opportunity to explore the area before I move there long term. The accommodation was both cozy and private in a way that made me feel at home with a great view in a good location. ill be glad to stay here again if need be.

I appreciate how John communicated with me prior to my arrival. He answered all of my questions. He and Holly both welcomed me and made me feel that I had made a good choice in staying at their home. The barn yard and gardens are lovely and well kept.

John, Holly, and "the boys" made me feel incredibly welcome. The house and neighborhood descriptions are accurate. The house is definitely under construction and appears to have been in such a state for some time (cf. the review by "Nicholas" from February 2014). The room was very warm and pleasant, but is very much in an unfinished basement. This was perfect for me, but may not be so for children.

John was great! They are very accommodating with anything you need. They have great suggestions about the town and places to hit. John is doing a lot of remodeling/construction to the house, but provides a nice private room and bath.

My wife and 2 year old sun stayed at John and Holly’s house for three nights and had a great time. We ate breakfast and dinner with them and their two sons (which was delicious and saved us some money). Our 2 year old son loved the place, because he could play with the dogs, help milk or feed the goats, and had Holly help him learn how to play the violin and piano (she is very gifted at teaching kids to play instruments). We plan on staying there again.

The airbnb is exactly as advertised. John is a spectacular host willing to share all the Steamboat Springs shortcuts. Would recommend for an adventurous budget stay.

Response from John:
Thank you Dan for your great camaraderie during your visit. Please come again soon! I have come to a disagreement with airbnb over their review policies. Sadly, the review written below is inaccurate to the point of deliberate falsehood, but that does not violate their guidelines. I could easily prove the point but airbnb says they cannot remove the review, and guests will have to decide upon its accuracy by comparison to other reviews. Fortunately there are many of those, but it is still wrong to let someone publish something not true.
