We have a house with a basement room and hallway to private bath willing to share w/ short-term guests. Basement has air hockey table and bar which we'll belly up to with you if we're around. 15 minutes from Grand Rapids and 1 mile away from big mall and variety of restaurants.
Can close yourself in to private section of the basement or socialize in the entertainment area. Right between M6 and 196 highways. We are a busy family so not always here to greet guests when they arrive, but we make sure you have access to your room whenever you get here. If you're booking as two people and use two beds, it is an additional $10, payable to host directly.
Private bed and bathroom with Queen and bunk beds (which are not ideally suited/built for 2 adults, but top mattress can be placed on floor), sauna room, basketball hoop, paddle boat, kayak, and often craft beer on tap.
Interaction with guests
Nice to spend at least a few minutes getting better acquainted, but if you're just looking to be alone, that's not a problem and we understand. We are used to hosting a variety of guests and pretty much roll with whatever preferences you have.
Other things to note
We have a cleaning lady working every other Friday from 8:30 a.m. to noon. If you're gone and she can clean your floors and the bathroom, that'd be great. If not, she can avoid the rooms. Either way, please note that the central vacuum is located right next to the bedroom and is loud. Also, I (Tim) have my office desk outside the bedroom door in the hallway connecting room to bathroom.
Please don't leave a mess, create noise, or acquaint yourself with areas of the house to which you haven't been introduced. No pets allowed indoors. If you book as 2 guests, but need 2 beds, there is an additional $10 fee that you can pay me directly.
We are laid-back hosts who have enjoyed sharing our home with exchange students, foster kids, family, friends, and BnB guests. Some things we enjoy include family, social justice, sports, craft beer, and good whisky. I am not a fan of the current trend to continually monitor a smart phone so I don't own one. The downside of that is not seeing your lodging request until I check my email. I apologize for any delays. I'll make it up to you by pouring a beer should I have something on tap (which is most of the time). You should also know that as guests in the basement, you'll hear us living above you at times. Cheers.
